模糊限制語是限制模糊程度的語言,廣泛應(yīng)用于學(xué)術(shù)寫作。模糊限制語可以讓命題變得模糊或者準(zhǔn)確,模糊作者的承諾,使作者避免武斷,進(jìn)而保護(hù)其免受不必要的批評或指責(zé),形成和諧的作者-讀者關(guān)系。Hyland（1996）對模糊限制語進(jìn)行定義和分類,并將模糊限制語分為三類:以準(zhǔn)確為導(dǎo)向,以作者為導(dǎo)向和以讀者為導(dǎo)向的模糊限制語。本研究旨在探索軟科學(xué)和硬科學(xué)期刊論文中模糊限制語的使用之異同。更具體地說,本研究立于兩個包含不同科學(xué)期刊論文的語料庫,以Hyland對模糊限制語的定義和分類為理論框架,分析不同科學(xué)期刊論文中以準(zhǔn)確、作者和讀者為導(dǎo)向的模糊限制語使用之異同,并基于此,對英語期刊論文寫作和教學(xué)提供出建議。研究發(fā)現(xiàn),模糊限制語的使用在軟科學(xué)和硬科學(xué)期刊論文中有以下幾點相同之處。第一,總體上來看,期刊論文中的模糊限制語主要用來模糊命題和作者的承諾,進(jìn)而維護(hù)作者的面子。第二,在以準(zhǔn)確為導(dǎo)向的模糊限制語中,表示不確定的副詞頻率最高,認(rèn)知情態(tài)助動詞次之,表達(dá)不確定的形容詞排名第三,認(rèn)知名詞排名最后。第三,在以作者為導(dǎo)向的模糊限制語中,動詞被動形式或者主句消失形式使用得最頻繁;指方法、設(shè)計、實驗條件不足的表達(dá)使用...
