1588年,英國擊敗西班牙無敵艦隊(duì),成為第二個(gè)“日不落帝國”。享譽(yù)世界的英國史學(xué)家阿爾弗雷德·考爾德科特借《大英殖民帝國》一書從戰(zhàn)爭、政府、經(jīng)濟(jì)、勞動力、種族、教育和宗教等方面展現(xiàn)了大英帝國殖民畫卷,本實(shí)踐報(bào)告則以《大英殖民帝國》第七章“帝國政府”的翻譯為基礎(chǔ)。原文介紹了西班牙、葡萄牙、荷蘭和法國等早期殖民帝國的統(tǒng)治和各類英屬殖民地及其發(fā)展前景。譯者借助平行文本、工具書以及線上工具,通過譯后校改與評價(jià)進(jìn)一步提高譯文質(zhì)量。本實(shí)踐報(bào)告共分為五章:第一章介紹任務(wù)背景、目的及意義;第二章從詞法、句法和語篇等方面對原文特點(diǎn)進(jìn)行描述;第三章分譯前、譯中和譯后三個(gè)階段闡述本次翻譯過程;第四章結(jié)合卡特福德提出的翻譯轉(zhuǎn)換理論對具體案例加以分析;第五章就本次翻譯實(shí)踐給出結(jié)論。在翻譯轉(zhuǎn)換理論的指導(dǎo)下,本實(shí)踐報(bào)告進(jìn)一步分析了時(shí)態(tài)、語態(tài)、虛擬語氣、復(fù)數(shù)形式、比較級、句子成分、詞性的轉(zhuǎn)換,以及主語突出到主題突出、從句和短語到完整句子的轉(zhuǎn)換。同時(shí),由于翻譯轉(zhuǎn)換理論中的系統(tǒng)內(nèi)轉(zhuǎn)換只存在于同一語系的不同語言中,本報(bào)告對其在英譯漢翻譯實(shí)踐中的局限性也進(jìn)行了陳述。譯者經(jīng)本次翻譯實(shí)踐對英屬殖民地政府、翻譯轉(zhuǎn)換理論和翻譯步驟有...
