納博科夫與艾略特:形式主義關(guān)照下文學(xué)理論與文本實(shí)踐的張力分析

【摘要】:通過(guò)對(duì)納博科夫和艾略特的文學(xué)和非文學(xué)作品的細(xì)讀,本文認(rèn)為他們?cè)诟髯缘奈膶W(xué)批評(píng)觀點(diǎn)和文學(xué)作品中既重視文本的形式,又具有很強(qiáng)烈的歷史意識(shí)。張力由此形成。納博科夫深受俄國(guó)形式主義的影響,而艾略特是新批評(píng)的先驅(qū)。俄國(guó)形式主與新批評(píng)都屬于形式主義,正是這條線索將兩人聯(lián)系起來(lái)。盡管形式主義理論尤其強(qiáng)調(diào)文本分析而不考慮文本之外的任何其他因素諸如作者的生平,寫作背景和歷史環(huán)境等,納博科夫和艾略特從未忽視歷史因素對(duì)于他們文學(xué)創(chuàng)作的影響。正相反,歷史因素反而為他們的文學(xué)創(chuàng)作提供了不少動(dòng)力。納博科夫通過(guò)追溯過(guò)去認(rèn)為歷史是一個(gè)重要的元素,而艾略特在他的文章《傳統(tǒng)與個(gè)人才能》里全面闡述了他的歷史觀,他認(rèn)為沒(méi)有詩(shī)人可以獨(dú)立獲得自己的意義。另外,艾略特在文學(xué)作品中的旁征博引、引經(jīng)據(jù)典也體現(xiàn)出他強(qiáng)烈的歷史意識(shí)。為了打破學(xué)界對(duì)于形式主義文學(xué)理論家只重文本分析忽視文本之外其他因素的這種誤解,本文選取了納博科夫的五部短篇小說(shuō)和艾略特的《普魯弗洛克的情歌》,通過(guò)分析納博科夫與艾略特文學(xué)理論與文本實(shí)踐的張力,換句話說(shuō),就是文學(xué)與非文學(xué)作品,認(rèn)為他們文學(xué)影響的偉大之處就在于把形式主義技巧和歷史質(zhì)素結(jié)合在一起形成了一種張力。這種張力的存在才是文學(xué)作品之所以成為能夠經(jīng)典的核心之處。
[Abstract]:Through a close reading of Nabokov and Eliot's literary and non-literary works, this paper holds that they attach importance to the form of the text as well as a strong historical consciousness in their respective literary critical views and literary works. Tension is thus formed. Nabokov was deeply influenced by Russian formalism, and Eliot was the pioneer of new criticism. Russian formalism and new criticism belong to formalism, and it is this clue that connects the two. Although formalistic theory places particular emphasis on text analysis and does not take into account any other factors other than the text, such as the author's life, writing background and historical environment, Nabokov and Eliot never ignore the influence of historical factors on their literary creation. On the contrary, historical factors provide a lot of impetus for their literary creation. Nabokov thinks that history is an important element by tracing back to the past, while Eliot fully expounds his view of history in his essay tradition and individual Talent. He believes that no poet can gain his own meaning independently. In addition, Eliot's allusions and quotations in literary works also reflect his strong sense of history. In order to break the academic misunderstanding that formalistic literary theorists only emphasize text analysis and ignore other factors beyond the text, This paper selects Nabokov's five short stories and Eliot's Prufrok's Love songs to analyze the tension between Nabokov and Eliot's literary theory and text practice, in other words, literary and non-literary works. The great point of their literary influence is that the combination of formalism and historical quality forms a tension. The existence of this tension is the core of the classical literature.
