時(shí)間是看不見摸不著的抽象的概念。認(rèn)知語言學(xué)認(rèn)為,時(shí)間概念是通過空間概念來投射的。在空間隱喻中,傳統(tǒng)的時(shí)間空間隱喻表征主要基于兩個(gè)面向?qū)硇蛣?dòng)態(tài)的隱喻方式：時(shí)間在動(dòng)的隱喻和觀察者在動(dòng)的隱喻。我們認(rèn)為這種認(rèn)識(shí)過于粗略與一般化,難以明確解釋很多英漢時(shí)間隱喻現(xiàn)象�；谶@一問題,根據(jù)對(duì)空間方位的認(rèn)知以及觀者面對(duì)時(shí)間流的不同區(qū)域,一方面我們可進(jìn)一步補(bǔ)充從水平層面對(duì)時(shí)間的面向過去型靜態(tài)時(shí)間隱喻方式分析英漢隱喻概念的相似性與差異性；另一方面在垂直層面以觀察者所處的不同觀測(cè)點(diǎn)和狀態(tài)對(duì)時(shí)間的空間隱喻加以解釋。同時(shí),傳統(tǒng)英漢時(shí)間隱喻以空間隱喻、實(shí)體隱喻和結(jié)構(gòu)隱喻為分類基礎(chǔ)的分析框架存在不合理與不科學(xué)性,因此本文從修辭視角提出新的分析框架,從時(shí)間的“空間化隱喻”、“擬人化隱喻”、“物化隱喻”、“事件化隱喻”、“抽象化隱喻”、“色彩化隱喻”和“典故隱喻”等七方面對(duì)英漢時(shí)間隱喻概念及表征加以比較分析。進(jìn)一步從文化與思維視角全面深入地審視英漢時(shí)間隱喻的異同點(diǎn),并揭示形成這一現(xiàn)象的深層原因。最后,提出語言現(xiàn)象以及文化因素在歷史與社會(huì)前進(jìn)中的時(shí)代意義。
