【摘要】：隨著中西方文化交流日益頻繁,中國武俠文化逐漸向西方傳播,武俠小說外譯成為必然趨勢。然而,武俠小說中豐富的文化內(nèi)涵給翻譯帶來了重重困難,目前武俠作品的英譯數(shù)目極其有限。加強(qiáng)對武俠文學(xué)翻譯的研究,對于弘揚中國文化有著十分重要的意義。 二十世紀(jì)八十年代以來,翻譯的文化轉(zhuǎn)向成為國際翻譯界的一場變革。巴斯奈特明確地將文化的概念引入翻譯研究中,提出文學(xué)翻譯的實質(zhì)就是文化翻譯。本文以文化翻譯理論為指導(dǎo),針對武俠文學(xué)最具特色的部分——武俠文化意象的翻譯進(jìn)行了研究。筆者選擇John Minford(閔福德)英譯的The Deer and the Cauldron為研究對象,采用文獻(xiàn)研究,對比研究和數(shù)據(jù)分析等方法,對譯者在英譯《鹿鼎記》中武俠文化意象所采取的翻譯策略及其在傳播過程中的文化虧損進(jìn)行了系統(tǒng)的評析。本研究從《鹿鼎記》原著及其英譯本中篩選出99對武功招式文化意象,57對幫派綽號文化意象,和58對隱語行話文化意象,先對其翻譯策略進(jìn)行判定,并統(tǒng)計出各種策略出現(xiàn)的頻數(shù),以判斷譯者對文化意象翻譯策略選擇的傾向。在此基礎(chǔ)上,對意象翻譯中的文化虧損做出判定,并統(tǒng)計出其所占比例并評估文化意象在英譯中的虧損度。 本文由六部分組成：第一部分介紹了本研究的背景和意義,并對關(guān)鍵術(shù)語進(jìn)行了界定；第二部分對文化轉(zhuǎn)向、文化意象、文化虧損的研究做了系統(tǒng)綜述；第三部分陳述了該研究的研究對象、研究問題和所使用的研究方法；第四部分詳細(xì)闡述了該研究中數(shù)據(jù)的收集和統(tǒng)計過程,并論證了該研究中所收集數(shù)據(jù)的效度和信度；第五部分為研究過程,對所得到的的數(shù)據(jù)進(jìn)行了分析,針對提出的問題做出了相應(yīng)的闡釋。第六部分得出以下結(jié)論： 1.閔福德英譯《鹿鼎記》中,對武俠文化意象所采取的翻譯策略是多變的,不同的文化意象據(jù)其特點采取不同的翻譯策略,整體來看,多傾向于異化策略的選擇； 2.該譯本中武俠文化意象存在不同程度文化虧損,在武功招式文化意象中占33.3%,在幫派綽號文化意象中占26.3%,在隱語行話文化意象中占48%； 3.導(dǎo)致文化虧損的因素是多元的,中西文化差異,原作者金庸創(chuàng)作過程中的有意省略,譯者翻譯策略的選擇及其跨文化理解能力不足都會導(dǎo)致文化虧損。
