誤讀理論視角下翟理斯與韋利的譯者關(guān)系研究

  翟理斯(Herbert Giles,1845-1935)是十九世紀(jì)下半葉至二十世紀(jì)初英國(guó)漢詩(shī)翻譯領(lǐng)域最具有代表性的漢學(xué)家之一。翟理斯一生筆耕不輟,著作頗豐,他的漢詩(shī)英譯以語(yǔ)言華麗,格律嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)著稱(chēng)于世。韋利(Arthur Waley,1889-1966)是繼翟理斯之后英國(guó)漢學(xué)界的又一后起之秀。韋利以顛覆者的形象登上漢詩(shī)翻譯的舞臺(tái)。他不僅舍棄了嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)?shù)母衤审w和華麗抽象的語(yǔ)言風(fēng)格,還以霍普金斯的“彈跳節(jié)奏”為核心建立起屬于自己的譯詩(shī)風(fēng)格。翟理斯和韋利是兩個(gè)相鄰時(shí)期英國(guó)漢學(xué)界漢詩(shī)翻譯領(lǐng)域的杰出代表,但二者的漢詩(shī)翻譯在多個(gè)層面表現(xiàn)出明顯的差異。作為一名后輩譯者,韋利不僅在翻譯實(shí)踐中背離了以翟理斯為代表的翻譯傳統(tǒng),還曾在1918年至1920年間與翟理斯就漢詩(shī)翻譯展開(kāi)一場(chǎng)專(zhuān)門(mén)的論戰(zhàn)。布魯姆(Harold Bloom,1930-)是美國(guó)“耶魯學(xué)派”的重要批評(píng)家、文學(xué)理論家。他在《影響的焦慮》中提出誤讀理論。布魯姆的誤讀理論重新定義了前輩詩(shī)人與后輩詩(shī)人之間的關(guān)系。布魯姆用誤讀來(lái)描述后輩詩(shī)人為了建立自己的文學(xué)地位而對(duì)前輩詩(shī)人所代表的文學(xué)傳統(tǒng)進(jìn)行偏移和修正的傾向。誤讀理論雖為詩(shī)歌理論,但同樣能為翻譯領(lǐng)域的研究帶...
