由于中國人和英國人的思維模式及中英在社會、文化等各個方面的差異,其句法結構也存在巨大差異。因此,根據英漢句法結構之間的差異,忠實通順地翻譯學術論文中的英語長句需要進一步探討。本文作者以《社會、水、科技》（節(jié)選）為翻譯實踐材料,在英漢句法結構對比的基礎上,從形合與意合、繁復與簡短、替代與重復三個方面出發(fā),針對原文中出現的典型的英語長句,分析其特點,探討分譯、轉譯和增譯三種翻譯策略的運用。以期在翻譯學術論文中的長句時,忠實、通順地傳達學術論文的信息和內容,便于目標語讀者更好地理解原文。
