鴉片戰(zhàn)爭之前,晚清政府自認(rèn)為中國是東亞的中心,世界的中心,其他民族皆系夷狄、野蠻之民族,因而長期實(shí)行“閉關(guān)鎖國”政策,拒絕與外界的一切往來。那時(shí)的大清帝國已然成為井底之蛙,難以知曉世界的潮流。這種狀況一直持續(xù)到了1840年第一次鴉片戰(zhàn)爭的爆發(fā)。西方列強(qiáng)用堅(jiān)船利炮打開中國國門,晚清政府不得不放棄“閉關(guān)鎖國”政策,敞開國門,進(jìn)入世界。鴉片戰(zhàn)爭之后,中國被迫與西方各國簽訂了一系列不平等條約,這些條約侵占了中國多項(xiàng)權(quán)益。晚清政府及一些有識之士意識到要想與西方列強(qiáng)進(jìn)行平等談判,首先需要的是了解西方的法律。進(jìn)而,晚清時(shí)期掀起了西方法律翻譯的潮流。其中最先傳入到中國的西方法律著作是國際法。晚清統(tǒng)治者為了與西方列強(qiáng)進(jìn)行斗爭,也迫切需要引進(jìn)國際法。因而,晚清政府及民間開始大規(guī)模的翻譯國際法。本文采用文獻(xiàn)研究方法,歷史研究方法以及跨學(xué)科研究方法,對清末國際法翻譯史進(jìn)行研究,通過對史料的查閱與研究,梳理晚清時(shí)期國際法翻譯的主要代表人物以及他們的翻譯作品和翻譯方法,并通過個(gè)案研究分析晚清國際法翻譯對當(dāng)時(shí)中國的外交、教育、政治思想及中國翻譯史的影響。研究發(fā)現(xiàn):（1）在晚清時(shí)期,對國際法引進(jìn)翻譯的主要代表人物有“...
