【摘要】：本文以日本所藏林語(yǔ)堂《紅樓夢(mèng)》英譯原稿為研究對(duì)象,借鑒列維(2008)視翻譯為選擇過(guò)程的觀點(diǎn),分析林語(yǔ)堂在文本上選擇《紅樓夢(mèng)》,在底本上選擇王希廉評(píng)本,在翻譯形式上選擇編譯,在翻譯內(nèi)容上選擇故事至上,在翻譯策略上選擇汰弱留強(qiáng)、刪繁就簡(jiǎn)以及選擇佐藤亮一作為轉(zhuǎn)譯本譯者這六個(gè)選擇和選擇背后的原因,以探明林語(yǔ)堂編譯《紅樓夢(mèng)》的歷程。文章還穿插探討了學(xué)界較為關(guān)心的兩個(gè)話題:林語(yǔ)堂一度放棄翻譯《紅樓夢(mèng)》的原因以及不直接出版譯稿而選擇在日本轉(zhuǎn)譯出版的原因,筆者指出這均與出版商華爾希有關(guān)。
[Abstract]:This paper takes the English translation of Lin Yutang (A Dream of Red Mansions) in Japan as a research object, draws lessons from Levy's (2008) viewpoint that translation is regarded as a selection process, and analyzes the choice of "A Dream of Red Mansions" by Lin Yutang in the text and Wang Xilian's comments on the manuscript. In terms of translation form, the translation content is the first choice, the translation strategy is to eliminate the weak and remain strong, the simplified version and the choice of Sato Liangyi as the translator of the six choices and the reasons behind the choice. To find out the course of compiling A Dream of Red Mansions by Lin Yutang. The article also intersperses two topics of concern: the reason why Lin Yutang gave up translating A Dream of Red Mansions for a time and the reason why he did not publish translations directly in Japan. The author points out that these are all related to the publisher Walsey.
