《三國演義》的章回標(biāo)題以對偶的形式精煉地概括了每一回的內(nèi)容,具有信息性和藝術(shù)性。本論文借用功能翻譯理論來探索文學(xué)作品《三國演義》章回標(biāo)題翻譯的文本功能,選取美國漢學(xué)家羅慕士的全英譯本和中國學(xué)者虞蘇美的的全英譯本中的章回標(biāo)題作為研究對象。通過分析和比較代表性的例子,本論文在于發(fā)掘兩譯本章回標(biāo)題的翻譯策略及兩譯本章回標(biāo)題的文本功能,以及兩譯本章回標(biāo)題采用不同翻譯策略和章回標(biāo)題所實(shí)現(xiàn)的文本功能有所側(cè)重的因素。通過分析和比較,得出以下結(jié)論:a)羅譯本注重將原章回標(biāo)題的思想譯介給目標(biāo)語讀者,主要采取直譯的翻譯策略,而虞譯本的章回標(biāo)題重視譯文在譯語文化中傳遞具有可懂性的和豐富的信息,主要采取意譯和增譯的翻譯策略;b)兩譯本章回標(biāo)題所實(shí)現(xiàn)的文本功能的程度和側(cè)重點(diǎn)不同。首先,通過增加包含在相應(yīng)章回下的關(guān)鍵信息以及將原章回標(biāo)題不同的稱謂處理為確切的人物名字,虞譯本的章回標(biāo)題比羅譯本的章回標(biāo)題具有更高程度的指稱功能,而羅譯本的章回標(biāo)題則客觀重現(xiàn)原文的風(fēng)貌。其次,羅譯本的章回標(biāo)題和虞譯本的章回標(biāo)題所實(shí)現(xiàn)的表情功能有所側(cè)重。通過再現(xiàn)原章回標(biāo)題中表達(dá)文本創(chuàng)作者對人物的情感和態(tài)度的稱謂,羅譯本的章回標(biāo)題側(cè)重情感子...
