【摘要】：19世紀(jì)下半葉,澳大利亞殖民地的歐洲裔移民社會(huì)通過渲染華人對(duì)自然資源的浪費(fèi)、水土環(huán)境的破壞以及引發(fā)流行病等現(xiàn)象,將一種對(duì)環(huán)境惡化的焦慮感融入反華話語的構(gòu)建之中。從華人移民勞工進(jìn)入殖民地伊始,社會(huì)輿論就探討了其與環(huán)境的關(guān)系。在牧羊業(yè)擴(kuò)張時(shí)代,華人勞工一度被認(rèn)為具有更高的環(huán)境適應(yīng)力,但在淘金熱引發(fā)環(huán)境巨變后,移民勞工輿論開始強(qiáng)調(diào)華人對(duì)生產(chǎn)環(huán)境的直接破壞,而政治精英們渲染華人威脅殖民地生態(tài)的整體健康,借此強(qiáng)調(diào)排華政策的合理性。澳大利亞的案例說明,歐洲拓殖型殖民地種族矛盾不僅存在于經(jīng)濟(jì)與文化領(lǐng)域,而且包含一種生態(tài)競爭的內(nèi)涵。
[Abstract]:In the second half of the 19th century, the colonized European immigrant society in Australia promoted the Chinese waste of natural resources, the destruction of water and soil, and the creation of epidemics. A sense of anxiety about environmental degradation is incorporated into the construction of anti-Chinese discourse. From the time Chinese migrant workers entered the colony, public opinion discussed its relationship with environment. In the era of sheep industry expansion, Chinese workers were once considered to be more adaptable to the environment, but after the gold rush caused great changes in the environment, migrant labor public opinion began to emphasize the direct destruction of the production environment by Chinese. The political elite exaggerates the Chinese as a threat to the overall health of the colony, thereby emphasizing the rationality of the anti-Chinese policy. The case of Australia shows that the racial contradiction of European colonization exists not only in the field of economy and culture, but also in the connotation of ecological competition.
