【摘要】：民國(guó)學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨(dú)立的堡壘中央研究院,在1940年蔡元培去世后的繼任院長(zhǎng)候選人選舉時(shí)受到政治的強(qiáng)力侵襲。評(píng)議會(huì)評(píng)議員們以學(xué)術(shù)良知抵擋住蔣介石舉出顧孟余的"下條子"行為,選出他們心目中的候選人翁文灝、朱家驊與胡適,表征了學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨(dú)立對(duì)政治的勝利。但在院長(zhǎng)人選的遴選與任命過程中,因政治因素的侵?jǐn)_等,不僅演成胡適駐美大使撤換風(fēng)波,而且最終人選并非真正學(xué)人翁文灝,而是純粹官僚朱家驊,顯示出學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨(dú)立的限度。更為重要的是,面對(duì)政治對(duì)學(xué)術(shù)發(fā)展更為強(qiáng)勁的干擾,朱家驊領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下的中央研究院,生存也面臨危機(jī),更昭顯了學(xué)術(shù)自由與獨(dú)立在政治強(qiáng)力下的窘?jīng)r與窘境。
