【摘要】：本文討論了亞當(dāng)·馬斯-瓊斯創(chuàng)作于1993年的小說《饑渴的源泉》中的疾病隱喻。小說中角色,特別是主角威廉,在疾病的折磨與影響下,身體與心理均遭受痛苦,本論文從疾病對同性戀身份的構(gòu)建出發(fā),分析了醫(yī)學(xué)對身體的禁錮與規(guī)訓(xùn)。在醫(yī)學(xué)與疾病的雙重影響之下,威廉本能地運(yùn)用了心理防御機(jī)制如投射來減輕疾病與醫(yī)學(xué)規(guī)訓(xùn)帶來的壓迫、焦慮以及對死亡的恐懼。本文也探討了疾病——即腎病及艾滋病——在威廉男性氣質(zhì)與同性戀身份的塑造上發(fā)揮的不可或缺的作用。本文借助�？隆⒖巳R恩以及桑塔格的理論及概念,揭示了醫(yī)學(xué)的雙重矛盾性,分析了對抗死亡的心理機(jī)制及疾病對同性戀身份構(gòu)建的作用。論文最后得出結(jié)論:疾病的隱喻是個人及社會對死亡及死亡恐懼的回應(yīng)。通過分析疾病的隱喻及其可能帶來的危害,本文意在幫助更多人了解疾病的隱喻并消解其帶來的負(fù)面影響。
