《荒原》的生態(tài)解讀

《荒原》(The Waste Land, 1922)是T.S.艾略特(1888-1965)的代表作,該作品一面世立刻引起軒然大波,許多人認(rèn)為它勾勒了一幅絕望的全景圖,而F. L.盧卡斯一開(kāi)始對(duì)其心生厭惡,查理斯·鮑威爾(Charles Powell)視其為“廢紙”。H. P.勒夫克拉夫特鄙夷艾略特,聲稱(chēng)這首詩(shī)是“短語(yǔ),典故,引用,俚語(yǔ)等的無(wú)意義的堆砌”。I. A.理查茲則大肆表?yè)P(yáng)艾略特描繪了戰(zhàn)后的“荒蕪、不確定性、不育、了無(wú)生機(jī)、徒勞無(wú)望感,渴望生命之水澆灌卻不得”。埃德蒙·威爾遜(Edmund Wilson)認(rèn)為這首詩(shī)背后隱藏著完整的象征構(gòu)架。事實(shí)上,整首詩(shī)是嚴(yán)肅的、警世的,而非艾略特所宣稱(chēng)的“有節(jié)奏的牢騷”!痘脑分谐尸F(xiàn)出來(lái)的是毫無(wú)生機(jī)的自然,委頓無(wú)力的人類(lèi)。艾略特一反以往的浪漫主義詩(shī)歌歌頌贊美大自然,以驚人的筆觸描寫(xiě)他那個(gè)時(shí)代真實(shí)的自然,重新考慮人與自然的關(guān)系,重新確認(rèn)人在自然生態(tài)系統(tǒng)中的位置和責(zé)任。他對(duì)自然的審視包含著對(duì)遭到工業(yè)文明侵襲的自然環(huán)境的深切同情和尊重,體現(xiàn)了詩(shī)人對(duì)人與自然、人與人和諧健康發(fā)展的高度責(zé)任感,對(duì)詩(shī)意棲居的憧憬。本論文在生態(tài)視閾下重新解讀《荒原》,運(yùn)用精...
