亂中求序—《喧嘩與騷動》的文體特質(zhì)

美國著名作家威廉·�？思{在其作品中對文體進行大膽實驗，名噪一時�？梢哉f，他獲得諾貝爾文學獎并在世界文壇占據(jù)堅不可摧的地位在很大程度上得益于他獨特的文體。評論家普遍認為，�？思{的代表作《喧嘩與騷動》是最具開創(chuàng)性的實驗小說之一，標志著�？思{大膽進行創(chuàng)作實驗的開端。對《喧嘩與騷動》的評論可謂“汗牛充棟”，但很少有評論系統(tǒng)地研究小說的詞匯、句式和敘述特質(zhì)以及這些特質(zhì)在文體上的目的和作用。有鑒于此，本文首先認真研究并確定該小說在詞匯、句式和敘述方面與眾不同的特征，然后將這些特征進行分類并分析研究。研究發(fā)現(xiàn)：福克納在運用詞匯方面才華出眾。為了展現(xiàn)不同敘述者在智力、語言表達能力方面的差異和關注點的不同，他賦予不同敘述者不同的詞匯。傻子班吉的詞匯量有限，且主要由簡單詞和具體詞構(gòu)成，由此看出班吉在智力方面的障礙和缺陷。昆丁詞匯量很大，詞匯復雜、抽象，由此展現(xiàn)昆丁的智力、所受的教育以及他所迷戀的事情。在杰生的詞匯中，日常用語和口頭禪比比皆是，反映出他整天憤憤不平和俗不可耐的特點。�？思{對詞匯重復情有獨鐘。�？思{認為現(xiàn)有英語形容詞不能完全表達他的思想，所以常常使用一連串近意詞，試圖最大可能地表達他的思想。他...
