模糊限制語是英語學(xué)術(shù)論文寫作中常用的策略。它能夠表明作者對(duì)自己所持觀點(diǎn)的態(tài)度,體現(xiàn)作者謙虛謹(jǐn)慎的科研精神和對(duì)同行的尊重,同時(shí)也能給讀者留下探討的余地。到目前為止,盡管一些學(xué)者已經(jīng)開始研究學(xué)術(shù)論文中的模糊限制語,但其研究對(duì)象主要集中在單一學(xué)科如生物學(xué)、經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、社會(huì)學(xué)等,而跨學(xué)科或不同語體之間的研究則相對(duì)較少。本文對(duì)兩個(gè)自制的英文學(xué)術(shù)語料庫文學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)論文語料庫和醫(yī)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)論文語料庫中的模糊限制語進(jìn)行了對(duì)比研究。兩個(gè)語料庫各含有20篇文章,共計(jì)11萬余字。本著科學(xué),權(quán)威的原則,所有的學(xué)術(shù)論文均選自文學(xué)和醫(yī)學(xué)領(lǐng)域最近出版的國際專業(yè)權(quán)威期刊。本文主要采用定性和定量相結(jié)合的方法,對(duì)出現(xiàn)在兩個(gè)語料庫中的模糊限制語的總量,頻率和種類進(jìn)行了對(duì)比分析,找出兩者之間的異同,分析造成這些差異的原因,最后探討了模糊限制語在學(xué)術(shù)論文中的功能。對(duì)比研究表明:這兩門學(xué)科在模糊限制語的使用上既有相似點(diǎn)又存在差異。其相似點(diǎn)在于兩種文體中都大量使用了模糊限制語,而且其種類都集中在詞匯類模糊限制語;從頻率上來講,在研究的兩種文體中詞匯類模糊限制語出現(xiàn)的頻率要遠(yuǎn)高于非詞匯類模糊限制語,而且情態(tài)動(dòng)詞和動(dòng)詞的頻率在所有出現(xiàn)的模糊限制語...
