[Abstract]:As an influential black woman writer, Alice Walker, who participated in the civil rights movement and women's liberation movement, was deeply influenced by traditional feminism. She spent most of her life fighting for women's liberation and racial equality, and most of her works were also about exposing the reality of black women. As Alice Walker's masterpiece, "Purple" has been widely read since its first publication in 1982, and "Purple" has also won Alice Walker the Plymouth Prize in the United States. In contrast to traditional feminism, feminism focuses on the emancipation of women of colored races and is committed to the harmonious survival and integrity of mankind as a whole, whether male or female.
By analyzing the current situation of black women in the novel, the thesis mainly discusses the process of their emancipation. In such a society, black women are oppressed not only by white people under racial oppression, but also by black men under gender oppression. Under double oppression, the situation of black women is very complicated if they want to. To be liberated and independent, they must have a sense of women's independence and be able to use it against those who oppress them. In the course of their struggle, they must first resort to the silent weapon of sisterhood to strengthen their strength, and secondly, they must change the black man to her through their own independence. Their attitudes. They need to struggle for harmony between races and between sexes. As Alice Walker hoped, ends in harmony, that all people, regardless of race or gender, can live in a common society in harmony. That's Alice Walker. Unlike traditional feminism, the important content of feminism is not to separate women from men. It advocates that all races, whether white or colored, and both sexes, whether men or women, can live in harmony.
The introduction mainly introduces the author Alice Walker's basic situation, the basic content of Purple and the basic theory of feminism, so that readers can clearly understand the background of the author's life, the political, economic, cultural background of the appearance of Purple and her wife. The ideas expounded by feminism.
Chapter One explores the reasons for the existence of racial and gender oppression on black women. On the one hand, racial oppression has a long history, in which blacks were shipped to the United States as slaves by Europeans. Since then, they have begun the process of oppression. On the other hand, black women have to endure it. This chapter will help readers better understand the living conditions of black women and pave the way for the next chapter to analyze the process of women's liberation.
Chapter two is divided into three parts, focusing on the awakening and independence of black women. The first part analyzes the process of the heroine Celie's resignation. Due to long-term double oppression, the majority of black women have no female consciousness, they dare not say no to their oppressors. The second part is the awakening part. With the help of sisterhood, Celie begins to awaken spiritually. The third part is the key part, which describes a harmonious ending, in which black women get out of the control of men and become financially independent.
Chapter three analyzes in detail the harmonious love which exists as an important part of Alice Walker's feminism. She hopes that black women can get rid of racial oppression and gender oppression through their own struggle, so that black women can live in a society without racial oppression and gender discrimination.
The conclusion is a summary of the whole thesis. It emphasizes once again that Alice Walker's feminism in Purple has set off a movement of black women fighting for women's social status. It guides black women to complete the process of harmonious existence with white people and men.
