【摘要】：《紅樓夢(mèng)》在中國(guó)深受廣大讀者的喜愛(ài),被公認(rèn)為中國(guó)古典小說(shuō)的高峰。在長(zhǎng)達(dá)185年的《紅樓夢(mèng)》英譯史上,共出現(xiàn)10個(gè)譯本,霍克斯的譯本和楊憲益的譯本被公認(rèn)為優(yōu)秀譯本。關(guān)于兩個(gè)譯本的研究各種各樣,但是從圖里的描述性翻譯研究視角探討兩個(gè)譯本的研究還很少。本論文旨在豐富這方面的研究。James S. Holmes首次提出了描述翻譯學(xué)這一概念。在前人研究的基礎(chǔ)上,圖里大大發(fā)展了描述性翻譯研究,提出了描述翻譯(過(guò)程和作品)的四步法并表示描述性翻譯研究的目的是通過(guò)對(duì)眾多翻譯案例的描述發(fā)現(xiàn)普遍存在的翻譯規(guī)范。圖里解釋了為什么在描述性翻譯研究中討論規(guī)范,闡釋了規(guī)范的概念,提出了三個(gè)規(guī)范類(lèi)型,并給出了研究規(guī)范的兩類(lèi)資源,即文本資源和文本外資源。本論文的主體部分就是對(duì)《紅樓夢(mèng)》兩個(gè)全譯本的這兩類(lèi)資源進(jìn)行對(duì)比研究,從而發(fā)現(xiàn)這兩個(gè)翻譯(過(guò)程和產(chǎn)品)中的規(guī)范,并在結(jié)論部分用圖里描述翻譯的四步法對(duì)兩個(gè)譯本進(jìn)行總結(jié)性描述。本研究有如下發(fā)現(xiàn)：一,在目的語(yǔ)文化中,兩譯本都被認(rèn)為是翻譯作品,但霍譯本更受歡迎；二,霍克斯的翻譯目的是讓目的語(yǔ)讀者最大程度上領(lǐng)略《紅樓夢(mèng)》的魅力,楊憲益則是將《紅樓夢(mèng)》原原本本地用英文呈現(xiàn)出來(lái)；三,兩個(gè)譯者在不同的翻譯背景下使用了不同的翻譯策略,遵循了不同的翻譯規(guī)范。
