隨著中外文化交流日益頻繁,回憶錄翻譯成為了一種常見的翻譯題材。2016年11月,美國(guó)知名喜劇演員及脫口秀主持人特雷弗·諾亞出版了個(gè)人回憶錄《天生罪犯》,講述了自已在種族隔離制度盛行的南非的成長(zhǎng)故事,以及后來(lái)的自由生活。本翻譯實(shí)踐報(bào)告所選文本取自《天生罪犯》的第一章和第二章,譯文約一萬(wàn)五千字。作者在譯前做了大量準(zhǔn)備工作去閱讀和分析原文,把握原文大意,然后收集相關(guān)信息充實(shí)自己對(duì)南非種族隔離制度的了解。作者在此書中描述了在南非的種族隔離制度下自己艱難的童年生活,作為一個(gè)混血人種在種族制度盛行的南非出身就是一種過(guò)錯(cuò)。根據(jù)紐馬克的文本類型理論,該回憶錄屬于表達(dá)型文本,翻譯時(shí)應(yīng)以語(yǔ)義翻譯為主。然而,筆者在翻譯過(guò)程中還發(fā)現(xiàn)該文本兼具信息功能和呼喚功能,因此在某些詞句的翻譯上也采用了交際翻譯。在語(yǔ)義翻譯理論的指導(dǎo)下,筆者主要采取直譯翻譯策略,再現(xiàn)原作風(fēng)格。而在交際翻譯理論的指導(dǎo)下,筆者采用意譯、增譯、省譯等方法應(yīng)對(duì)人物對(duì)話、文化負(fù)載詞以及俚語(yǔ)的翻譯,使譯文更加通暢易懂。通過(guò)本次翻譯實(shí)踐,筆者希望能使讀者從一個(gè)孩子的角度加深刻地了解南非種族制度,并為英文回憶錄的中譯貢獻(xiàn)出一份微薄的力量。
