本翻譯材料選自美國小說家凱琳?鮑威爾所著的《旋律之聲》。這部小說從女主人公和她女兒角度講述美國內(nèi)戰(zhàn)前一個小家庭的故事。突出了19世紀中葉捕鯨業(yè)鼎盛時期新英格蘭南塔基特島三代居民的生活。筆者選取小說的前兩章作為本次翻譯實踐的材料。為了再現(xiàn)原文信息和寫作風格,筆者在翻譯中針對不同的問題采用了多種翻譯方法:在詞匯方面,筆者探討了使用四字詞語和詞義拓展的方法選擇和確定詞義,還原原文語義;針對小說中的對話,筆者運用性格分析和環(huán)境分析的方法再現(xiàn)女主人公對于不同話語對象的不同講話風格以及非裔美國人語言特征的語言特征;在篇章層面,筆者運用了標記關鍵詞的方法還原原作的情感表達。為了再現(xiàn)小說自身平實的語言美所帶來的藝術效果,作者改變語序和視角,增加標點符號。通過該小說的翻譯實踐,筆者深刻體會到了文學翻譯的困難和重要性,加深了對現(xiàn)代小說翻譯中的一些具體問題的認識和理解。筆者希望本次翻譯實踐能夠為自己和他人日后所從事的其他文學翻譯實踐及相關研究提供一定的借鑒意義。
