闡釋學(xué)視角下《生死疲勞》英譯本中的譯者主體性研究

【摘要】:隨著中國(guó)國(guó)際地位的提升,中國(guó)文學(xué)作品“走出去”的需求不斷增加。翻譯,作為跨文化交際的橋梁,是實(shí)現(xiàn)這一目標(biāo)的主要途徑。作為翻譯活動(dòng)主體,譯者在翻譯過程中的重要作用不言而喻。然而,譯者的地位長(zhǎng)期以來受到壓制,被視作“奴仆”、“媒婆”或“隱形人”。直至翻譯研究的“文化轉(zhuǎn)向”以來,譯者才逐漸從“隱形”走向“有形”,其主體性、創(chuàng)造性、能動(dòng)性開始得到尊重。越來越多的翻譯理論家也開始從不同的角度研究譯者主體性問題。2012年,莫言獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎(jiǎng),成為獲此殊榮的首位中國(guó)人。葛浩文作為其“御用”譯者,功不可沒。他先后翻譯了莫言近十部作品,均受到好評(píng)。莫言于2006年創(chuàng)作的《生死疲勞》在國(guó)內(nèi)的銷量與知名度都不及《紅高梁家族》、《天堂蒜薹之歌》、《豐乳肥臀》等早期作品,但其英譯本是莫言作品的英譯本在西方文學(xué)界獲獎(jiǎng)最多的作品。本文結(jié)合闡釋學(xué)的相關(guān)概念,以《生死疲勞》英譯本為例,探究葛浩文在闡釋四步驟中發(fā)揮譯者主體性的具體表現(xiàn),指出葛浩文譯作的成功,很大程度上是由于他在譯作中合理地發(fā)揮了譯者主體性。論文除了引言和結(jié)語(yǔ)之外,由三個(gè)部分組成。引言部分介紹本文的研究背景、研究意義,描述主要的研究方法。第一章概述《生死疲勞》及其英譯,就其現(xiàn)有研究進(jìn)行梳理,并對(duì)葛浩文的譯論進(jìn)行綜述。第二章主要探討闡釋學(xué)相關(guān)概念在譯者主體性研究中的運(yùn)用。闡釋學(xué)是一門關(guān)于理解和解釋的哲學(xué),其與翻譯的共通之處使其能夠?yàn)榉g學(xué)研究提供堅(jiān)實(shí)的理論基礎(chǔ)。伽達(dá)默爾提出的“偏見”和“視域融合”兩大概念有力地佐證了譯者主體性。“偏見”或“前理解”是歷史性的存在,優(yōu)秀的譯者總是不斷調(diào)整并擴(kuò)大自身視域以期與作者視域達(dá)到最佳融合,從而創(chuàng)造出最佳譯本。斯坦納吸收了現(xiàn)代闡釋學(xué)的觀點(diǎn),并進(jìn)一步提出闡釋學(xué)四步驟,即信任、侵入、吸收和補(bǔ)償。各步驟均為譯者主體性的發(fā)揮提供了無限的空間。第三章從闡釋學(xué)四步驟,即信任、侵入、吸收和補(bǔ)償四個(gè)步驟,通過《生死疲勞》的語(yǔ)料分析,逐一考量譯者主體性在這部小說英譯本中的具體體現(xiàn)。結(jié)論部分就主要研究發(fā)現(xiàn)進(jìn)行總結(jié)與反思,指出譯者主體性的發(fā)揮是譯作成功的關(guān)鍵,但也需控制在合理的限度之內(nèi)。
[Abstract]:With the promotion of China's international status, the demand for Chinese literary works "going out" is increasing. Translation, as a bridge of cross-cultural communication, is the main way to achieve this goal. As the subject of translation, the translator plays an important role in the process of translation. However, the translator's position has long been suppressed and regarded as "slave", "matchmaker" or "invisible man". It is not until the cultural turn of translation studies that the translator gradually moves from "invisible" to "tangible", and his subjectivity, creativity and initiative begin to be respected. More and more translation theorists are beginning to study the subjectivity of translators from different angles. In 2012 Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize for Literature and became the first Chinese to win this award. As the translator of his "imperial use", Geh? Haowen made a great contribution. He has translated nearly ten works of Mo Yan, all of which are well received. "Life and death fatigue" created by Mo Yan in 2006 is not as well known in China as the Red Sorghorn Family, the Song of the garlic Bolt in Heaven, and other early works, such as "abundant breasts and fat buttocks" and so on. However, the English version of Mo Yan's works has won the most prizes in western literary circles. Based on the related concepts of hermeneutics and taking the English version of "Life and death fatigue" as an example, this paper explores the concrete expression of the translator's subjectivity in the four steps of his interpretation, and points out the success of his translation. To a large extent, it is due to his rational use of the translator's subjectivity in the translation. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the paper consists of three parts. The introduction introduces the research background, significance and main research methods. The first chapter gives an overview of Life and death fatigue and its translation into English. Chapter two mainly discusses the application of hermeneutics related concepts in the study of translator's subjectivity. Hermeneutics is a philosophy of understanding and interpretation, which can provide a solid theoretical basis for the study of translation. Gadamer's "prejudice" and "horizon fusion" strongly support the translator's subjectivity. "Prejudice" or "pre-understanding" is a historical existence, and excellent translators constantly adjust and expand their horizons in order to achieve the best integration with the author's horizon, thus creating the best translation. Steiner absorbs the view of modern hermeneutics and further proposes four steps of hermeneutics: trust, invasion, absorption and compensation. Each step provides unlimited space for the translator's subjectivity. The third chapter analyzes the translator's subjectivity in the English translation of the novel by analyzing the four steps of hermeneutics, namely trust, invasion, absorption and compensation, through the corpus analysis of Life and death fatigue. The conclusion part summarizes and reflects on the main findings, pointing out that the translator's subjectivity is the key to the success of the translation, but it also needs to be controlled within a reasonable limit.
