[Abstract]:TaiwanTale ("the Island, those things") is an English short story collection of eight stories, written by eight different writers, with diverse themes and very different styles. The authors are members of the Taipei Writers Group (Taipei Writers Group), mostly foreigners living in Taiwan. The book takes the street life in Taiwan as the creation background, the plot is full of fantasy color. The eight stories condense the many aspects of Taiwan, bring you to understand the core of Taiwan, and then understand some ideas. The characters in the book are perceptual and condensed, detailed in plot, vivid in character, detailed in description of scene, dialogue and psychological activity, giving readers rich emotional experience. With the joint efforts of the three translators, the Chinese version of TaiwanTales landed on the mainland in November 2016. It is worth mentioning that since most of the authors speak English as their mother tongue and the Taiwan in the book is to a greater extent Taiwan in the eyes of the Western world it is very important for translators to avoid subjective preconceptions in translation. To sum up, the introduction of the book can help us understand the western concepts of Taiwan and China, promote cultural exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and meet the reading needs of different readers. The translator chooses the sixth chapter of "that Island, those things" as the task of the English-Chinese translation practice. This part has obvious mysterious color, very representative. The translation of the chapter is more than 13000 words, and the translation report is based on it. The report is divided into five parts: the introduction introduces the information of the work, including the subject matter, the author and the background of the creation, and introduces the reasons and practical significance of the translation of the book. The first chapter is the task description. Describes the content of the selected text, translation objectives, analysis of the characteristics of the original text. The second chapter is the process description. This paper describes three stages of translation practice: pre-translation preparation, translation and post-revision. The third chapter is a case study. This paper explains the problems encountered in translation and the translator's thinking, and tries to put forward solutions and try different translation strategies and methods in the light of different problems. The conclusion is the last part, which summarizes the whole process of translation practice, combs the experience and enlightenment, and combines the translation theory to provide reference for the translation of the same kind of translation.
