【摘要】：模糊性是語言的一個(gè)內(nèi)在特征。模糊語言帶給讀者極大的想象空間,因而是文學(xué)作品的重要載體�！都t樓夢》是中國文學(xué)的瑰寶,其中蘊(yùn)含了大量的模糊語言,是翻譯家們面臨的極大挑戰(zhàn)。 如果翻譯中喪失了這些模糊美,不僅會(huì)損壞原作的藝術(shù)價(jià)值,而且也是原作和目的語讀者的極大損失。因此,恰當(dāng)?shù)靥幚磉@些模糊語,對于我們更好地傳遞中國文化以及加強(qiáng)中國與世界其他國家之間的文化交流具有重要意義。 本研究旨在對《紅樓夢》兩英譯本中模糊語的翻譯進(jìn)行對比研究。筆者認(rèn)為,模糊語是能用有限的詞匯表達(dá)模糊意義的語言。它主要體現(xiàn)在詞、短語以及句子層面上。 本研究的不同之處在于,所有的結(jié)論都是通過對語料庫的分析總結(jié)出來的。筆者從《紅樓夢》中選取了130個(gè)包含有模糊語的例子,并將它們分為六大類:人物外貌描寫模糊語、人物性格描寫模糊語、景物描寫模糊語、宗教模糊語、醫(yī)學(xué)模糊語以及性模糊語。研究中主要運(yùn)用了以下三種研究方法:語料庫法、對比研究法以及歸納法。 通過對六種模糊語翻譯的對比研究,筆者發(fā)現(xiàn),為了讓英語讀者更好地欣賞原作,霍克斯注重原作形式和內(nèi)容的傳遞。他對人物外貌描寫模糊語、人物性格描寫模糊語以及景物描寫模糊語的處理很好地體現(xiàn)了這一點(diǎn)。在翻譯宗教模糊語、醫(yī)學(xué)模糊語以及性模糊語時(shí),霍克斯努力減輕文化差異帶來的模糊性,以便最大化地傳達(dá)原文信息。因此,他的譯文更易被英語讀者理解和接受。而從楊憲益夫婦對人物外貌描寫模糊語、人物性格描寫模糊語以及景物描寫模糊語的翻譯中可以看出,其譯文在大多數(shù)情況下舍棄了原文的意象,雖然再現(xiàn)了原文的模糊性,但僅傳達(dá)了原文的深層含義。在處理宗教模糊語、醫(yī)學(xué)模糊語以及性模糊語的翻譯時(shí),楊憲益夫婦保留了原文的意象以滿足英語讀者探求新奇的心理�？傊�,例子分析清楚地表明,翻譯家應(yīng)該在準(zhǔn)確傳達(dá)原文意思的基礎(chǔ)上再現(xiàn)原文的風(fēng)格,同時(shí)認(rèn)真考慮目的語讀者的接受能力,以便使譯作被讀者接受而不引起文化誤解。 盡管本論文只對《紅樓夢》中的六類模糊語進(jìn)行了探討,筆者希望本研究能使我們更好地理解楊憲益夫婦以及霍克斯的翻譯實(shí)踐,給今后的研究者帶來一定的啟示,以便開展更多有價(jià)值的研究。此外,筆者還希望翻譯實(shí)踐者能從中獲取有用的信息和指導(dǎo),從而使自己的模糊語翻譯實(shí)踐更為有效。 本論文主要由五個(gè)部分組成。第一部分是引言,介紹了本研究的背景、意義以及研究問題。第二部分是文獻(xiàn)綜述,簡要回顧了模糊語的定義、分類、成因,以及前人對模糊語和《紅樓夢》所做的的翻譯研究。第三部分介紹了本論文的研究方法和語料庫。第四部分對楊霍兩譯本中模糊語的翻譯進(jìn)行了對比分析,并對分析結(jié)果進(jìn)行了總結(jié)。結(jié)尾部分指出了本研究的不足之處,并對將來的研究提出了自己的建議。
[Abstract]:Fuzzy language is an inherent characteristic of language . The fuzzy language brings great imagination space to readers , and it is an important carrier of literary works . The dream of Hongloumeng is a treasure of Chinese literature , which contains a great deal of vague language , which is a great challenge for translators .

If these vague beauty are lost in translation , not only the artistic value of the original works will be damaged , but also the great loss of the readers of the original and destination language . Therefore , it is of great significance to properly deal with these vague words and to better transmit Chinese culture and strengthen the cultural exchange between China and other countries of the world .

The purpose of this study is to make a comparative study of the translation of ambiguous words in the two English versions of Meng Hongloumeng . The author believes that the fuzzy language is a language that can express vague meaning with limited vocabulary . It is mainly embodied in terms of words , phrases and sentences .

This study is different in that all the conclusions are summed up by the analysis of corpus . The author selected 130 examples of fuzzy language from the Dream of the Red Chamber , and divided them into six categories : character description fuzzy language , character description vague language , scene description fuzzy language , religious vague language , medical vague language and sexual vague language . The research mainly uses three methods : corpus , contrast study and induction .

In this paper , the author finds out that , in order to make English readers appreciate the original works better , Hawkes pays attention to the transfer of original form and content .

The author hopes that this study will make us better understand the translation practice of Yang Xianyi and Hawks , bring some inspiration to the researchers in the future , so as to carry out more valuable research . In addition , the author hopes that the translator can get useful information and guidance from them , so that the translation practice of fuzzy language is more effective .

This thesis consists of five parts . The first part is introduction , introduces the background , significance and research problems of this study . The second part is the literature review , reviews the definition , classification , cause of the fuzzy language , and the translation studies of the former to the fuzzy language and the Dream of the Red Mansion . The third part introduces the research methods and corpus of this thesis . The fourth part sums up the analysis results . At the end , it points out the shortcomings of this study and puts forward some suggestions for the future research .
