語(yǔ)篇分析視角下《賣(mài)花女》的譯者風(fēng)格研究

【摘要】:“譯者風(fēng)格”指在語(yǔ)言體系中某些或某類(lèi)語(yǔ)項(xiàng)和結(jié)構(gòu)在一個(gè)特定譯本中經(jīng)常的,有統(tǒng)計(jì)意義的復(fù)現(xiàn)。對(duì)于相同的源語(yǔ)文本,不同的譯者由于源語(yǔ)文本及譯入語(yǔ)規(guī)范的制約,以及時(shí)代背景,社會(huì)文化以及個(gè)體選擇的影響,會(huì)生成各具風(fēng)格的譯文。近年來(lái),眾多學(xué)者基于不同的理論對(duì)于譯者風(fēng)格進(jìn)行了深入的研究,但基于語(yǔ)篇銜接與連貫的語(yǔ)篇分析理論對(duì)譯者風(fēng)格進(jìn)行的研究為數(shù)不多。系統(tǒng)功能語(yǔ)言學(xué)中有關(guān)語(yǔ)篇銜接與連貫的分析模式對(duì)于連貫語(yǔ)篇的形成機(jī)制及影響因素具有較好的闡釋力。在兩種不同的語(yǔ)言中,語(yǔ)篇銜接機(jī)制存在差異,形成連貫語(yǔ)篇的模式因而不同,這就給翻譯過(guò)程帶來(lái)了挑戰(zhàn)。對(duì)于同一源語(yǔ)語(yǔ)篇,不同的譯者為形成通順連貫的譯文會(huì)選擇各具特色的翻譯策略。譯文語(yǔ)篇中處理英語(yǔ)銜接機(jī)制的方法策略及譯文的語(yǔ)言風(fēng)格,是譯者翻譯風(fēng)格的重要依據(jù)。因此,對(duì)于不同譯文中的翻譯策略,用語(yǔ)風(fēng)格以及語(yǔ)境因素進(jìn)行比較分析,可以深入探討譯者翻譯風(fēng)格的異同及其形成因素。本研究依據(jù)語(yǔ)篇銜接與連貫理論,利用語(yǔ)料庫(kù)的研究方法,將林語(yǔ)堂和楊憲益兩個(gè)譯本中對(duì)于Pygmalion原文中的銜接機(jī)制所采用的翻譯策略進(jìn)行比較分析,旨在探究譯者風(fēng)格的異同,并進(jìn)一步結(jié)合歷史文化語(yǔ)境探討影響譯者風(fēng)格的深層原因。研究主要圍繞照應(yīng)、替代、省略、連接四種常見(jiàn)的銜接手段及其翻譯策略進(jìn)行比較分析,并對(duì)話語(yǔ)標(biāo)記語(yǔ)和具有銜接作用的特殊句式的翻譯策略進(jìn)行了深入剖析。基于定量與定性的分析調(diào)查,研究發(fā)現(xiàn)林語(yǔ)堂與楊憲益的譯文中銜接手段與翻譯策略顯示出較大差異,形成不同的翻譯風(fēng)格。林語(yǔ)堂總體上傾向于異化的翻譯風(fēng)格,以直譯、改譯為主,譯文形式化較高且用詞較豐富。楊憲益傾向于歸化的翻譯風(fēng)格,常使用省譯或顯化等翻譯策略且語(yǔ)言簡(jiǎn)潔,較為接近口語(yǔ)。從歷時(shí)的角度來(lái)看,兩位譯者所處的時(shí)代背景不同,現(xiàn)代漢語(yǔ)發(fā)展階段不同,因而譯本的翻譯目的及讀者群存在差異,影響了譯者遣詞造句及翻譯策略的選擇。從共時(shí)的角度來(lái)看,林語(yǔ)堂期望通過(guò)文學(xué)翻譯促進(jìn)現(xiàn)代漢語(yǔ)的歐化,但考慮到中國(guó)讀者較為封閉的知識(shí)結(jié)構(gòu),他主張翻譯中漢語(yǔ)的歐化應(yīng)該只局限于詞匯和短語(yǔ)結(jié)構(gòu),較之同時(shí)代的其他譯者他采取更多的歸化策略。兩位譯者在各自生活的時(shí)代都以讀者期待與譯文可讀性為重要的參考因素,形成了符合漢語(yǔ)習(xí)慣、通順連貫的譯文。研究結(jié)果進(jìn)一步證明譯者翻譯風(fēng)格的形成是歷史文化背景、社會(huì)意識(shí)形態(tài)以及譯者個(gè)人選擇相互作用的結(jié)果,這為戲劇的翻譯實(shí)踐以及譯者風(fēng)格成因的研究提供了較為有價(jià)值的依據(jù)。
[Abstract]:"translator's style" refers to the frequent and statistically significant repetition of some or certain types of language items and structures in a particular translation in a language system. For the same source language, different translators are constrained by the source language text and the target language norms. In recent years, many scholars have conducted in-depth studies on translators' styles based on different theories. However, there are few studies on translator's style based on discourse cohesion and coherence. In two different languages, Because of the differences in cohesive mechanisms and the different patterns of cohesive discourse, this brings challenges to the process of translation. Different translators choose different translation strategies in order to form a smooth and coherent translation. The methods and strategies of dealing with the cohesion mechanism in the target text and the language style of the target text are the important basis for the translator's translation style. A comparative analysis of translation strategies, lexical styles and contextual factors in different translations can explore the similarities and differences of translators' translation styles and their formative factors. The present study is based on the theory of cohesion and coherence. By using the corpus approach, this paper makes a comparative analysis of the translation strategies adopted by Lin Yutang and Yang Xianyi for the cohesive mechanism of the Pygmalion source text, with a view to exploring the similarities and differences of the translator's style. Furthermore, the author explores the underlying causes of the translator's style in the context of historical and cultural context. The study focuses on four common cohesive devices and their translation strategies: anaphora, substitution, ellipsis and connection. Based on the quantitative and qualitative analysis, it is found that there are great differences between the cohesive devices and the translation strategies in the translation of Lin Yutang and Yang Xianyi. In general, Lin Yutang tends to dissimilation translation style, mainly literal translation, modified translation, higher formalization of the translation and more abundant words. Yang Xianyi tends to domesticate the translation style. Translation strategies such as saving translation or explicit translation are often used, and the language is concise and close to spoken language. From a diachronic perspective, the two translators are in different times and have different stages of development in modern Chinese. As a result, there are differences in translation purposes and readership, which affect the choice of translator's choice of words and sentences and translation strategies. From a synchronic point of view, Lin Yutang hopes to promote the Europeanization of modern Chinese through literary translation. However, in view of the relatively closed knowledge structure of Chinese readers, he argues that the Europeanization of Chinese in translation should be confined to lexical and phrasal structures. He adopted more domestication strategies than other translators of his time. Both translators took readers' expectation and readability as important reference factors in their respective times and formed a Chinese habit. The results of the study further prove that the formation of the translator's translation style is the result of the interaction of historical and cultural background, social ideology and the translator's individual choice. This provides a valuable basis for the translation practice of drama and the study of the causes of the translator's style.
