　　林語堂作為一名作家，語言學(xué)家和翻譯家的多重身份吸引了學(xué)者和學(xué)生從各個不同的角度對其進行研究，但是其中針對林語堂英文作品中的語言進行系統(tǒng)性分析的文章很少。這篇論文將從語法層面，詞匯層面和句法層面對比林語堂和錢鐘書英文作品中的不同語言特點，并用定量和定性的方法以突出林語堂的英文作品中獨特的語言特點。 在語法層面上，諸如不定式to和并列連詞這樣的體現(xiàn)文體的非正式性的語言特點在林語堂的英文作品中出現(xiàn)的頻率比較高。同時在林語堂的英文作品里，他傾向于用更多的情態(tài)動詞和表明心理狀態(tài)的動詞。這可能是和本篇論文所選取的兩篇林語堂的英語作品的體裁有關(guān)。散文隨筆的文體相對而言比較非正式。 在詞匯層面，詞匯密度比較小，這意味著作品語言比較非正式而且詞匯的重復(fù)率比較高。然而這可能是和作者運用修辭手法以加強語氣的意圖有關(guān)。林語堂英文作品中的詞匯大多數(shù)都是基本詞匯，而且大多數(shù)出現(xiàn)在林語堂英文作品中的單詞覆蓋了英語本族語說話者的詞匯量的95%。 在句法層面，句型的多樣性和語法結(jié)構(gòu)的多變隨處可見。用不同語法結(jié)構(gòu)表達(dá)同一種概念而不去用那些不常用的詞匯是林語堂倡導(dǎo)的習(xí)語性表達(dá)：不僅在詞匯方面的習(xí)語表達(dá)，而...
