The subtitles of modern films are more of a reminder of the information of the film (such as time, place, identity, background account, etc.) or the reproduction of information (such as the presentation of the dialogue of the characters, etc.), which is more used as a supplement to the picture. Subtitle translation is a method for foreign film translation. At the same time, it is also a supplement to the information when the audience understands and accepts the film, especially for the special audience with hearing impairment. And the subtitles of the silent film are taken by the camera.
