本篇翻譯實踐報告翻譯文本選自布萊恩·格雷茨和伊恩·麥卡利斯特的作品《澳大利亞社會多維度研究》。該作品為1994年由麥克米蘭出版公司澳大利亞分部出版的全英文版書籍。該書主要講述的是澳大利亞國情概況,并以澳大利亞的人口、社會、政治三個維度來介紹澳大利亞。譯者承擔(dān)第四章種族的英譯漢翻譯任務(wù)。該翻譯文本為信息類文本,用詞精煉、客觀,翻譯需要忠實可信并且流暢易懂,譯文注重翻譯準(zhǔn)確性和可讀性。譯者選擇德國功能派費米爾目的論作為翻譯的理論基礎(chǔ),在翻譯實踐中以目的論的三原則目的原則、連貫原則、忠實原則為指導(dǎo)。其中,目的論原則是首要原則,翻譯策略是根據(jù)不同的翻譯目的而定的。在翻譯實踐中運用的翻譯技巧有增詞法、省略法,被動語態(tài)譯成漢語主動語態(tài)、被動語態(tài)譯成漢語被動語態(tài)、被動語態(tài)譯成無主句,長句的翻譯中選用內(nèi)嵌法、拆分法、重組法。譯者認(rèn)為以目的論為理論支撐選取適當(dāng)?shù)姆g技巧可以提高翻譯的準(zhǔn)確性、可讀性,同時在翻譯實踐中總結(jié)經(jīng)驗和方法,提高自身翻譯能力。
