【摘要】： 托馬斯·杰斐遜對西部發(fā)展及美國社會產(chǎn)生了深遠(yuǎn)的影響,而他一系列政績的取得皆與其西部觀密切相連。因此,本文試圖通過杰斐遜西部觀的促成因素、西部觀的實(shí)踐及其影響等諸多角度對杰斐遜的西部觀作初步探究,并對杰斐遜的西部觀作恰如其分的評價(jià)。 本文由引言、正文、結(jié)語和參考文獻(xiàn)四部分組成。 引言部分簡要概述本文的選題依據(jù)及國內(nèi)外的研究現(xiàn)狀。 正文由四部分組成: 第一部分論述杰斐遜西部觀的內(nèi)容及其表現(xiàn),主要包括實(shí)現(xiàn)美國領(lǐng)土兩洋環(huán)抱的擴(kuò)張觀,要求印第安人同化并獲得印第安人土地的種族宗教觀以及建立農(nóng)業(yè)共和國的理想觀。通過對內(nèi)容及表現(xiàn)的分析,可以看出杰斐遜西部觀的實(shí)質(zhì)是擴(kuò)張主義。 第二部分從西部觀形成的時(shí)代背景以及杰斐遜的成長經(jīng)歷兩方面入手,對杰斐遜西部觀的促成因素進(jìn)行探討。獨(dú)立戰(zhàn)爭之后,美國西部的歐洲殖民化及其潛在威脅和美國人對廣闊生存空間的需求,促使杰斐遜逐步形成他的西部觀。而杰斐遜的成長環(huán)境及其所受教育,對其西部觀的形成也產(chǎn)生了重要的影響。 第三部分從路易斯安那購買、劉易斯——克拉克的西部探險(xiǎn)和杰斐遜的印第安人政策三個(gè)方面細(xì)述杰斐遜西部觀的實(shí)踐情況,揭示杰斐遜西部觀靈魂深處的真正動(dòng)機(jī),即建立一個(gè)橫跨整個(gè)北美大陸的農(nóng)業(yè)帝國。 第四部分著重論述了杰斐遜西部觀的影響:既推動(dòng)了西進(jìn)運(yùn)動(dòng)和美國向西部擴(kuò)張的進(jìn)程,又加速了印第安文明的衰落,同時(shí),西部觀還影響了美國區(qū)域格局的變化。 結(jié)語部分對全文進(jìn)行歸納總結(jié),肯定了西部觀的重要性,并指出了進(jìn)一步研究的必要,如,北美的非殖民地化以及西部觀對奴隸制的影響等問題。
[Abstract]:Thomas Jefferson had a profound influence on the development of the West and American society, and his achievements were closely related to his view of the West. Therefore, this paper attempts to make a preliminary exploration of Jefferson's view of the west from many angles, such as the contributing factors of Jefferson's view of the west, the practice of the view of the west and its influence, and makes a proper evaluation of Jefferson's view of the west. This paper consists of four parts: introduction, text, conclusion and reference. The introduction briefly summarizes the basis of this paper and the current research situation at home and abroad. The text consists of four parts: the first part discusses the content and performance of Jefferson's view of the west, mainly including the realization of the concept of expansion of the two oceans in the United States. A racial and religious view that requires the Indians to assimilate and acquire Indian land, as well as an ideal view of the establishment of an agricultural republic. By analyzing the content and performance, we can see that the essence of Jefferson's western view is expansionism. The second part discusses the contributing factors of Jefferson's western view from two aspects: the background of the formation of the western view and Jefferson's growth experience. After the Revolutionary War, the colonization of western Europe and its potential threat and American demand for broad living space prompted Jefferson to gradually form his view of the West. Jefferson's growing up environment and his education also had an important influence on the formation of his view of the West. In the third part, from Louisiana, Lewis-Clark's western exploration and Jefferson's Indian policy, the author narrates the practice of Jefferson's western view, and reveals the real motive of the soul of Jefferson's western view The creation of an agricultural empire across the entire North American continent. The fourth part focuses on the influence of Jefferson's view of the west: it not only promotes the westward movement and the process of American expansion to the west, but also accelerates the decline of Indian civilization. At the same time, it also influences the change of American regional pattern. The conclusion part summarizes the full text, affirms the importance of the western view, and points out the necessity of further research, such as the decolonization of North America and the influence of the view of the west on slavery and so on.
