批評性話語分析是自七十年代末由以Roger Fowler和Gunther Kress等為代表的西方語言學家發(fā)展起來的話語分析方法。批評語言學家所做的是分析話語的結構,進行批評話語分析,從而尋找一些突出的政治的和意識形態(tài)的特征,借此揭示話語是如何建構和再現權力關系的,增強人們的語言意識,提高他們對語言運用的鑒賞能力。批評話語分析的最終目的是讓人們理解和揭示社會的不平等并最終抵制這種不平等。本文運用標記理論和認知語言學的相關理論如隱喻、轉喻、凸顯-背景化、和范疇化的方法,對《紐約時報》中三篇關于5.12地震和北京奧運會報道進行分析并比較《中國日報》中對同一事件的報道。分析發(fā)現:《紐約時報》在對中國的報道中存在對中國國家形象的不負責任的歪曲,并且驗證了批評語言學的核心觀點:語言不是中立的媒介,語言是一種社會實踐,是表達意識形態(tài)的一種手段�！都~約時報》對中國國家形象的負面報道不可避免會影響到美國及其它國家人民對中國的態(tài)度和印象,進而損害中國在國際上的地位。通過結合意識形態(tài)對于語言的作用,本文試圖為讀者提供一種不同的分析語言的視角,即批評性閱讀方法,從而幫助讀者提高對新聞語篇中隱含的意識形態(tài)意義...
