十九世紀英國女性小說中女性意識的演變

在男性主導的文學領域中,女性的形象一直被扭曲為兩種形象--迎合男性欲望的純潔的,天真的,溫順的“天使”形象和男性厭惡或懼怕的具有毀滅性的,惡毒的,貪婪的“魔鬼”形象!疤焓埂焙汀澳Ч怼倍际悄行缘呐d趣﹑情感需要和恐懼的反映。而且,由于女性的社會邊緣地位,相比男性她們接受的教育要少的多,因此在文學領域中,女性長期處于失語狀態(tài)。對于男性來說,女性的文化定位一度是“另類”。文學領域對女性形象的不真實描寫反映了男權社會對女性的壓迫。在英國,真正的女性文學起源于19世紀。19世紀的英國被認為是女性文學的黃金時期。越來越多的女性作家出現在歷史舞臺上,打破了長期以來女性在文學領域的沉默狀態(tài)。她們利用手中的筆傾訴著男權社會對女性的不公平壓制。簡·奧斯丁,勃朗特姐妹,喬治·艾略特是這個時期最具有代表性的女作家。在她們的筆下,眾多的女性一改既定模式中的多愁善感,溫順柔弱的形象,表現出了她們堅強,獨立和自信的一面。她們作品中表現出來的叛逆精神和對自由與獨立的追求被認為是女性主義意識的萌芽。簡·奧斯丁對當時社會習俗的諷刺,對女性智慧和身份的肯定,勃朗特姐妹對當時女性生存狀態(tài)的真實揭露,對女性獨立的鼓勵,喬治·艾...
