哥特小說作為一種特殊的文學體裁以其獨特的藝術(shù)特征引起了文學界越來越多的關(guān)注。本論文旨在將英國作家奧斯卡·王爾德的小說《道林格雷的畫像》與美國作家威廉·�？思{的小說《押沙龍,押沙龍!》中的哥特特征進行比較研究。通過對兩本小說中所具有的哥特特征,即恐怖氛圍；惡棍英雄,不幸女人,惡魔等哥特式人物；果報,畸戀,死亡等哥特式主題,及孕育兩本小說的哥特土壤進行比較研究后,論文證明兩部作品從哥特視角進行比較研究的可行性；其次,此嘗試性研究為英美哥特式小說的差異性與共同性原則構(gòu)建了深入探究的基礎(chǔ)；同時,可以引發(fā)思考,從而探索出英美哥特類文學作品間互補交流的平臺,展示哥特小說獨特的文學價值。
