20世紀50年代美國冷戰(zhàn)小說的文學社會學研究

文學社會學是從社會學的角度研究文學作品的一種跨學科視角,它既研究文學對社會的反映及作用,也研究社會對文學的影響及規(guī)范。文學社會學主要突顯文學文本與其外部背景的互動關系,在歷史語境的關照下對文學作品進行分析與解讀。二十世紀五十年代在社會心理層面見證了美國人從二戰(zhàn)后的興奮到冷戰(zhàn)初期壓抑的改變。在此期間美國經濟迅速發(fā)展,美國社會進入了一個令人歡欣鼓舞的豐裕期。然而,隨著世界冷戰(zhàn)格局的確立,美國國內出現了反蘇反共情緒。杜魯門政府為了遏制共產主義的不斷擴張,在國內開展了忠誠運動,要求人人忠于國家。此后,甚囂塵上的麥卡錫主義將反共浪潮擴大到美國的各個階層,造成了社會生活中的極度不安與恐慌,即,紅色恐慌和紫色恐慌。五十年代的社會文化對美國的小說創(chuàng)作產生了重大影響。經濟豐裕與政治高壓所造成的焦慮與迷茫使得很多美國人感到窒息,他們對社會不滿并且精神緊張。但是,迫于麥卡錫主義的壓制,他們以吸毒、喝酒、流浪等離經叛道的生活方式來表達自己的抗議,對社會迫害和思想鉗制提出挑戰(zhàn)。這種矛盾的社會情緒在這一時期的文學作品中得到了反映。其中杰羅姆·大衛(wèi)·塞林格的《麥田里的守望者》,杰克·凱魯亞克的《在路上》,約翰·厄普...
