【摘要】：該論文探討愛爾蘭杰出小說家詹姆斯·喬伊斯的第一部也是唯一一部短篇小說集《都柏林人》。作為喬伊斯早期的現(xiàn)實(shí)主義作品,《都柏林人》不僅是新舊文學(xué)觀念彼此交融的結(jié)晶,也是作者追求文學(xué)革新的重要嘗試。通過對(duì)《都柏林人》中的短篇小說的仔細(xì)研讀,本文著重探究其中的鮮明意象及其象征意義,意在點(diǎn)明喬伊斯如何勾勒出一個(gè)骯臟、貧瘠又麻木的都柏林。此外,通過對(duì)《都柏林人》文本的仔細(xì)探究和作者創(chuàng)作背景的了解,本論文將闡明喬伊斯批判都柏林人麻木不仁,意欲喚醒人們民族意識(shí)的動(dòng)機(jī)。最終,本文嘗試探討喬伊斯如何開始打破傳統(tǒng)的寫作方式,分析其現(xiàn)實(shí)主義短篇小說中的現(xiàn)代主義萌芽,探究這些元素在表現(xiàn)和彰顯主題上的效用。
[Abstract]:This paper explores the first and only collection of short stories by James Joyce, an eminent Irish novelist, the Dubliners. As Joyce's early realistic work, Dubliners is not only the crystallization of the blending of old and new literary ideas, but also an important attempt for the author to pursue literary innovation. Through a careful study of the short stories in the Dubliners, this paper focuses on the vivid images and their symbolic significance, which is intended to point out how Joyce sketched a dirty, barren and numb Dublin. In addition, through the careful exploration of the text and the background of the author's creation, this thesis will clarify Joyce's motivation to criticize Dubliners for their indifference and their intention to awaken people's national consciousness. Finally, this paper attempts to explore how Joyce began to break through the traditional writing style, analyze the germination of modernism in his short stories of realism, and explore the utility of these elements in expressing and demonstrating the theme.
