威廉·卡洛斯·威廉斯是二十世紀(jì)美國詩人中最有特色、最卓越的詩人之一。自從六十年代以來，越來越多的美國詩人遵奉他的詩學(xué)主張。他明確反對“歐洲中心”詩學(xué)傳統(tǒng)，號召美國詩人拋棄英國和歐洲的詩歌創(chuàng)作傳統(tǒng)，嘗試詩歌主題、題材、語言和技巧等方面的革新。他以語言游戲?qū)嶒�，運用拼貼、復(fù)調(diào)和碎片化等技巧，立足美國本土進(jìn)行詩學(xué)革新，創(chuàng)作了許多與現(xiàn)代主義迥然不同的詩歌作品。鑒于威廉斯的創(chuàng)作生涯與后現(xiàn)代主義在美國的出現(xiàn)有著歷史時期上的重疊，故有必要從后現(xiàn)代主義文學(xué)和文化語境來研究他的詩作與詩學(xué)，來分析他的詩歌是否具有某些后現(xiàn)代主義特征。本文在后現(xiàn)代主義理論的基礎(chǔ)上，主要借鑒伊哈布·哈桑關(guān)于后現(xiàn)代主義文學(xué)主要特征的理論，從主題、題材、語言和技巧等方面來分析威廉斯的詩歌所具有的兩個后現(xiàn)代特征即不確定性和內(nèi)在性，從而揭示他的后現(xiàn)代先鋒意識及其對美國詩歌的影響。通過從后現(xiàn)代主義的觀點分析威廉斯的詩作，我們可以發(fā)現(xiàn)他的詩歌具備了某些后現(xiàn)代主義的特征，從而確認(rèn)他是一位美國后現(xiàn)代主義詩歌先驅(qū)。
