[Abstract]:John Keats, one of the representative Romantic writers in England, is full of sorrow and tragedy. Poverty, disease and death filled his short life. The numerous deaths around him and his own progressive consciousness of death made this great poet frequently and deeply think of death, and everyone had to face death after all. Keats had a unique view of death. The purpose of this article is to explore Keats's poems and his epistles about the attitude of death. The article is divided into six parts. In addition to the introduction of the first chapter and the conclusion of the sixth chapter, the main body of the paper is divided into four parts. In the second chapter, the author analyzes Keats's cruelty and irresistibility to death, showing fear, anxiety and total despair. In two poems, Isabella and St. Agnes Night Eve, Keats depicts the ugly, gray, insidious, and horrific image of death. The third chapter describes Keats can not overcome death, can only work with it. Sometimes Keats shows an indomitable spirit against this abominable enemy, and sometimes finds the serenity of death, even the beauty of death in an ugly image. Keats also uses death as a way to escape the sorrows of the world. The fourth part is the last stage of Keats' understanding of death. As he matures, Keats's attitude to death is no longer simple fear and despair. His awareness of his impending death reinforces his love and attachment to life, and Keats sees death as a shortcut to eternity. Chapter five analyzes the factors that influence Keats' attitude to death. Social and cultural factors, as well as the poet's personal experience, play an important role in the formation and development of Keats' death consciousness. Keats' consciousness of death in his works, from fear of death, anxiety to face and desire, is influenced by the social and cultural background of his life. The analysis of Keats' death consciousness can better understand his poems and letters, understand the poet from a deeper level, understand the times in which the poet lives. At the same time enlighten future generations, like this great poet, to actively face the suffering and misfortune in life.
