【摘要】：《邊城》是我國著名作家沈從文的一部代表作，也是我國鄉(xiāng)土文學的一部經(jīng)典之作。自1934年出版以來，它以其獨特的藝術魅力及風土人情吸引了眾多讀者。盡管國內(nèi)外學者對《邊城》的研究己取得了一些成果，但對其翻譯的深入研究并不多見，而從功能對等角度進行研究的則更是少有。有鑒于此，，本文嘗試從功能對等的角度對《邊城》的翻譯進行系統(tǒng)的研究，以填補這方面的空白。 奈達的功能對等理論強調(diào)對等以及重視讀者反應。因此。譯者在翻譯時,要再現(xiàn)源語的信息，使目標語讀者能達到與原文讀者相同的理解和欣賞文章的效果。他提出的最小功能對等為譯者限定了合格的翻譯的標準，而最大功能對等則是理想的翻譯。 本文以功能對等作為理論框架，對《邊城》的兩個英譯本進行了對比研究，目的在于探索這一理論對于評價和指導鄉(xiāng)土文學翻譯的可行性。本項研究所選取的譯本為楊憲益、戴乃迭夫婦譯本及2009年剛出版的Kinkley (金介甫)的譯本。 本論文共分為五章。第一章簡要的介紹了論文的研究背景、研究目標及研究問題。第二章回顧了國內(nèi)外關于對等的研究及關于《邊城》的翻譯研究。第三章詳細的闡述了功能對等理論，探討了不同層次的功能對等以及產(chǎn)生功能對等應遵循的原則。第四章從意義方面，文化方面以及風格方面，對兩個譯本做了詳盡的對比研究。第五章總結出兩個譯本大多數(shù)情況下實現(xiàn)了功能對等，但是個別譯文還不是盡善盡美，需要完善。同時證實了功能對等理論對文學翻譯實踐和評價的適用性及其指導作用。
