【摘要】:楊憲益(1915-2009)是中國著名的翻譯家、文化研究專家、詩人。在新舊文化交替的特殊歷史條件下,楊憲益接受過中國傳統(tǒng)文化的熏陶,沐浴過西方思想的洗禮。在夫人戴乃迭的幫助下,楊憲益獻(xiàn)身翻譯事業(yè)逾半個世紀(jì),不僅將大批外國優(yōu)秀文學(xué)作品譯成中文,而且將中國兩千年以來眾多經(jīng)典名著推向世界,在國內(nèi)外享有盛譽(yù),被譽(yù)為“翻譯了整個中國”的士大夫,翻譯成就少有人企及。在漢詩英譯領(lǐng)域,楊憲益同樣是多產(chǎn)的譯者,出版了多本英譯漢詩的選集,如《離騷》、《漢魏六朝詩詞散文選》、《唐宋詩詞散文選》等。翻譯家許淵沖把楊憲益列為詩歌翻譯散體派的代表人物,遺憾的是,學(xué)界對其英譯漢詩所作的具體研究屈指可數(shù),缺乏對譯者詩歌翻譯美學(xué)價值的發(fā)掘。 本文旨在利用文學(xué)文體學(xué)發(fā)掘楊憲益漢詩英譯的藝術(shù)特色,并進(jìn)一步揭示其翻譯原則!都t樓夢》的詩詞在推動故事情節(jié)發(fā)展,表達(dá)小說人物情感和抒發(fā)作者身世感慨方面都發(fā)揮著重要作用,又有區(qū)別于一般詩歌詩文互動的特質(zhì),體現(xiàn)了清代詩歌較高的藝術(shù)價值。楊憲益《紅樓夢》譯本中漢詩英譯數(shù)量可觀,為楊憲益翻譯生涯中的后期作品,集中體現(xiàn)了楊憲益較穩(wěn)定的藝術(shù)特點(diǎn),適合作為本文的研究對象。文學(xué)文體學(xué)為文體學(xué)的一個分支,能幫助讀者從文本出發(fā)賞析文學(xué)作品,并早已在詩歌翻譯研究方面富有建樹。筆者利用利奇和肖特的文本分析模型為理論框架,并基于詩歌的特點(diǎn)改良該模型。結(jié)合中國傳統(tǒng)的詩學(xué)觀點(diǎn)和外國現(xiàn)代詩歌的理論,從音韻、詞匯、句法和篇章連貫四個層次分析楊憲益的英譯漢詩,從詩歌本身乃至整部小說和整個社會語境理解譯文,,挖掘譯文的美學(xué)特色。 筆者通過分析,認(rèn)為楊憲益從語音、詞匯、句法和語篇連貫等諸層面致力重塑原詩的意境,展現(xiàn)富有傳統(tǒng)中國特色的詩意畫面,引導(dǎo)讀者沉浸在意境提供的體驗(yàn)當(dāng)中進(jìn)行物我感發(fā)。楊憲益用英語再現(xiàn)了中國詩歌的韻味,而西方文化重視萬物的差異和物我的差距,西方讀者欣賞楊憲益的譯文有一定的困難。筆者認(rèn)為如果西方讀者對中國詩歌的感物方式有一定了解,能更好從楊憲益的漢詩英譯中了解中國文學(xué)和文化。本文的意義在于填補(bǔ)了對楊憲益漢詩英譯進(jìn)行系統(tǒng)研究的空白,對詩歌流派的研究和楊憲益的翻譯家研究皆有補(bǔ)益,同時能為詩歌翻譯的具體實(shí)踐提供一定的啟示。
[Abstract]:Yang Xianyi (1915-2009) is a famous translator, expert in cultural studies and poet in China.Under the special historical conditions of new and old culture alternation, Yang Xianyi has received the influence of Chinese traditional culture and bathed in the baptism of western thought.With the help of his wife, Dai Nadie, Yang Xianyi devoted himself to translation for more than half a century. He not only translated a large number of excellent foreign literary works into Chinese, but also brought China's many classic masterpieces to the world since 2000 years and enjoyed a high reputation at home and abroad.The literati and bureaucrats who have been praised as "translated the whole of China" are less likely to be translated.English-to-Chinese, the translator, listed Yang Xianyi as a representative figure of poetry translation. Unfortunately, there are only a few specific studies on English-to-Chinese 's poems in academic circles, which lack the aesthetic value of translation.The purpose of this paper is to explore the artistic features of Yang Xianyi's translation of Chinese poems into English by means of literary stylistics, and to further reveal its translation principles. The poems of A Dream of Red Mansions promote the development of the plot of the story.Both expressing the emotions of the characters and expressing the author's feelings play an important role, and they are different from the general poetry and prose interaction, which reflects the high artistic value of the Qing Dynasty poetry.The translation of Chinese poems into English in Yang Xianyi's "A Dream of Red Mansions" is a considerable quantity, which is a late translation work of Yang Xianyi, which embodies the more stable artistic characteristics of Yang Xianyi and is suitable for the study of this paper.Literary stylistics is a branch of stylistics which can help readers appreciate literary works from the text and have made great achievements in poetry translation.The author uses Leech and short's text analysis model as the theoretical framework, and improves the model based on the characteristics of poetry.Combined with the traditional Chinese poetic view and the theory of foreign modern poetry, this paper analyzes English-to-Chinese 's poems from the four levels of phonology, vocabulary, syntax and textual coherence, and understands the translation from the poetry itself, the whole novel and the whole social context.Explore the aesthetic features of the translation.Based on the analysis, the author holds that Yang Xianyi is committed to reconstructing the artistic conception of the original poem from the aspects of pronunciation, vocabulary, syntax and discourse coherence, and to display poetic images with traditional Chinese characteristics.Guide readers to immerse themselves in the experience provided by artistic conception.Yang Xianyi reproduces the charm of Chinese poetry in English, while Western culture attaches importance to the difference of everything and the gap between things and me. It is difficult for western readers to appreciate the translation of Yang Xianyi.The author holds that if the western readers have a certain understanding of the ways in which Chinese poetry is sensed, they can better understand Chinese literature and culture from Yang Xianyi's translation of Chinese poetry into English.The significance of this thesis is to fill the gaps in the systematic study of the translation of Yang Xianyi's Chinese poems into English, to make up for the study of poetry genres as well as the studies of Yang Xianyi's translators, and to provide some enlightenment for the specific practice of poetry translation.
