中美畢業(yè)典禮演進(jìn)辭的人際功能對(duì)比研究
[Abstract]:Halliday believes that language has three metafunctions, namely conceptual function, interpersonal function and textual function. Interpersonal function refers to people communicate with others in language, establish and maintain interpersonal relationship, and express their views and opinions in language at the same time. The study of interpersonal function is one of the important research topics of discourse analysis as a subject. Interpersonal function is mainly reflected through mood system and modal system. Based on Halliday's theory of interpersonal function, this paper selects ten small corpus established by Chinese and American graduation speeches, and makes a comparative study by combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Through the study, the author finds that there are similarities and differences in the realization of interpersonal meaning between Chinese and American speakers. In mood system, Chinese and American speakers use declarative mood in large numbers, Chinese discourse uses more questions and imperative mood, in modal system, Chinese and American speakers use low modal value words, and English discourse mostly uses modal words with medium modal value, while Chinese discourse mostly uses modal words with high modal value. In person system, a large number of first person is used in English discourse, while the frequency of first person and second person in Chinese discourse is very high. The author applies Halliday's theory of interpersonal function to practical text analysis, which not only enriches the study of interpersonal function and provides an operable model for analyzing the interpersonal function of speech texts, which is helpful for English learners to understand the use of language more deeply and improve their awareness of language use. In addition, this paper studies the differences in the realization process of interpersonal function between China and the United States, which also provides a new research perspective for cultural diversity and differences.
