中美金融報道中隱喻的批評性分析

【摘要】:隱喻一直是語言學(xué)研究的熱點課題。關(guān)于隱喻的理論層出不窮,如亞里士多德的“比較論”,理查德和布萊克的“互動論”。傳統(tǒng)修辭學(xué)中,隱喻被當(dāng)作一種修辭現(xiàn)象。隨著語言學(xué)的發(fā)展和隱喻研究的深化,越來越多的研究表明,隱喻的本質(zhì)是通過一種具體事物來理解另一種抽象事物。隱喻不僅是一種語言現(xiàn)象,更是一種認(rèn)知現(xiàn)象,是人類認(rèn)知和理解世界的工具。 由于經(jīng)濟(jì)活動的抽象性和復(fù)雜性,金融報道中存在大量的隱喻。國內(nèi)外學(xué)者從不同角度對經(jīng)濟(jì)活動中的隱喻開展研究。但是許多研究都局限于單一語言。即使有對比分析,主要是針對英語和其他歐洲國家語言的對比研究。缺少針對中英文金融報道中隱喻的對比研究。批評隱喻分析是一種集合了語言學(xué)、語用學(xué)、認(rèn)知學(xué),探討影響隱喻選擇的意識形態(tài)的隱喻研究方法。 本文選擇中英文金融報道作為研究對象,,在批評隱喻分析的框架下,嘗試將隱喻的理論應(yīng)用到具體的領(lǐng)域。本文從中美兩國的主流報刊中分別選取15篇以人民幣對美元升值為主題的新聞報道為語料,結(jié)合定量和定性分析,根據(jù)批評隱喻分析的理論框架,識別出隱喻表達(dá)式。通過對中英文金融報道中隱喻的使用情況進(jìn)行比較分析,發(fā)現(xiàn)中英文數(shù)據(jù)庫中主要存在三種概念隱喻,分別是:金融活動是有機(jī)體,金融活動是物理運動,糟糕的金融活動是災(zāi)害。中文金融報道中,機(jī)體隱喻出現(xiàn)頻數(shù)最多,災(zāi)害隱喻其次,運動隱喻第三。而在英文金融報道中,機(jī)體隱喻出現(xiàn)最多,運動隱喻其次,災(zāi)害隱喻第三。此外,本文發(fā)現(xiàn)中英文金融報道中還存在游戲和賭博隱喻。該隱喻在英文數(shù)據(jù)中出現(xiàn)的頻率大大高于中文數(shù)據(jù)。最后,本文試圖從認(rèn)知和文化因素對中英文數(shù)據(jù)中隱喻的異同點進(jìn)行解釋,進(jìn)一步探討隱喻思維反映出的不同的意識形態(tài)。分析發(fā)現(xiàn),在認(rèn)知因素中,人對世界的感知使得兩種語言中存在大量相同或相似隱喻。而在文化因素中,人對環(huán)境的理解和價值系統(tǒng)的差異,導(dǎo)致兩種語言中存在不同的隱喻。 本研究通過對中英文金融報道中的隱喻對比分析研究,希望對外語教學(xué)和隱喻能力的培養(yǎng)提供一定的啟示。
[Abstract]:Metaphor has always been a hot topic in linguistic research. Theories about metaphor, such as Aristotle's Theory of comparison, Richard and Blake's Theory of interaction. Metaphor is regarded as a rhetorical phenomenon in traditional rhetoric. With the development of linguistics and the deepening of metaphor research, more and more researches show that the essence of metaphor is to understand another abstract thing through one concrete thing. Metaphor is not only a linguistic phenomenon, but also a cognitive phenomenon. Due to the abstract and complexity of economic activities, there are a lot of metaphors in financial reports. Scholars at home and abroad have studied metaphors in economic activities from different angles. But many studies are confined to a single language. Even if there is a contrastive analysis, mainly for English and other European countries language contrastive study. There is a lack of a comparative study of metaphors in Chinese and English financial reports. Critical metaphorical analysis is a metaphorical approach that combines linguistics, pragmatics and cognitive science to explore ideologies that influence metaphorical choices. This paper chooses Chinese and English financial reports as the object of study and tries to apply the theory of metaphor to specific fields under the framework of metaphorical criticism. This paper selects 15 news reports with the theme of RMB appreciation against the US dollar from the mainstream newspapers of China and the United States as corpus, combines quantitative and qualitative analysis, and identifies metaphorical expressions according to the theoretical framework of critical metaphorical analysis. Through a comparative analysis of the use of metaphors in Chinese and English financial reports, it is found that there are three main conceptual metaphors in Chinese and English databases: financial activity is an organism, and financial activity is a physical one. Bad financial activity is a disaster. In Chinese financial reports, organism metaphors appear most frequently, disaster metaphors take second place, and sport metaphors take third place. In English financial reports, body metaphors appear most frequently, sport metaphors take second place, and disaster metaphors take third place. In addition, we find that there are game and gambling metaphors in Chinese and English financial reports. The frequency of the metaphor in English data is much higher than that in Chinese data. Finally, this paper attempts to explain the similarities and differences of metaphors in Chinese and English data from cognitive and cultural factors, and to further explore the different ideologies reflected in metaphorical thinking. It is found that human perception of the world leads to the existence of a large number of identical or similar metaphors in both languages. In cultural factors, there are different metaphors in the two languages due to the difference of human understanding of environment and value system. Through a comparative study of metaphors in Chinese and English financial reports, this study hopes to provide some inspiration for foreign language teaching and the cultivation of metaphorical competence.
