[Abstract]:Since the 1980s, China's social market economy has developed rapidly and the process of urbanization has advanced by leaps and bounds. This change has laid a foundation for the writing and research of urban literature. A large number of Shanghai literary works and film images, advertising media, cultural industry and so on together construct the 1990s Shanghai imagination, forming a kind of middle-class cultural imagination and writing trend in the 1990s. This thesis takes Shanghai Imagination in the 1990s as the main research object, analyzes and explores the characteristics of Shanghai Imagination in the 1990s from the standpoint of cultural politics, and probes into the cultural imagination and writing of the middle class. The introduction part of the thesis expounds the significance of the topic, the status quo of the research and the innovation of this paper. The text will be divided into three chapters: the first chapter discusses the cultural context and the middle class cultural imagination and its relationship. The culture of consumerism flourished and promoted the birth of the new rich class. A large number of Shanghai literary works, together with visual arts such as movies, paintings, music, etc, explain the cultural imagination of the middle class. In the 1990s, the middle class was no longer a simple concept, but a class with a sense of social identity. The class group was in the novel. Under the action of the media such as newspapers and periodicals, a political and cultural imagination community is formed. The flourishing culture of consumerism prompted the middle class to pursue fashion consumption and brand consumption in the 1990s, but gradually lost their individuality in this kind of excessive pursuit of material. The imagination of Shanghai in the 1990s and the imagination in Shanghai since the 1920s have made a new statement and breakthrough, and the writers are more interested in the cultural imagination and writing of the middle class. The second chapter expounds the presentation of Shanghai's imagination in the 1990's and explores the cultural identity of the middle class. Class formation is closely related to gender and race in social and cultural identity. This paper will construct the social identity of the middle class culture from the three dimensions of middle class social gender imagination, city imagination and life imagination. The third chapter discusses the middle-class cultural imagination of Shanghai in 1990 s. Taking Shanghai literary works of the 1990s as an example, using nostalgia and brilliant history to prove its cultural origin, erasing the bloody and cruel image of Shanghai by avoiding it, creating a delicate and elegant Shanghai for the middle class. In the middle class culture represented by western developed countries, we construct a kind of middle class cultural imagination of China in the eyes of other people. The conclusion part explains the narrative of middle class legitimacy and the demand of cultural value. The imagination of Shanghai in the 1990s accords with the aesthetic taste of the middle class and pursues the historical consciousness of the middle class. It provides a carrier for the middle class to narrate its legitimacy and to express its own cultural values. It alleviates the collective identity anxiety of the group, causes other social strata to pay close attention to the middle class life style and its culture, and reveals the deep cultural contradiction hidden behind the modern society.
