不同文化之間的差異會通過許多方式呈現(xiàn)出來,電影是最直觀的表現(xiàn)形式之一。一些學者對于表現(xiàn)跨文化交際的電影中的文化價值觀維度進行過分析。在電影《面子》中也體現(xiàn)出了顯著的中美文化之間的差異,目前還沒有關于該電影文化價值觀維度方面的研究。所以本文的目的是運用Hofstede的文化價值觀維度理論分析電影《面子》中體現(xiàn)出的中美在四個文化價值觀維度方面的差別。本文通過將電影中的情節(jié)與Hofstede的文化價值觀維度理論進行對比,發(fā)現(xiàn)在《面子》電影中,中國是屬于高權利距離,高不確定性因素規(guī)避,集體主義,男性主義傾向。美國是屬于低權力距離,低不確定性因素規(guī)避,個體主義,女性主義傾向。在不確定性因素規(guī)避和男性主義傾向/女性主義傾向這兩個維度上,電影中的情節(jié)是與Hofstede的理論研究結果不完全相符的。在通過對四個文化價值觀維度方面的對比分析之后,本文進一步從歷史,地理與哲學/宗教這幾個方面研究了導致電影里中美在文化價值觀維度上所表現(xiàn)出的差異的根源。
