1. Introduction to the Topic:
Strategic management is an evolving subject and to make the task of strategic practitioners, different theorists have presented various models. These models are extensively utilized by the strategic management practitioners not only solving their complex strategic management issues, but the use of such models also help them to align their strategies with the overall mission of the organization that in turn enable them to better accomplish their mission and objectives. One such widely used strategic management model is Porter's five forces model that has been developed by the strategic management guru, Michael Porter (Johnson & Scholes, 2005). This paper will elaborate that how the model could be used by two consumer electronics players- Apple and Samsung in solving their strategic management issues and realization of competitive advantage that could lead them towards the accomplishment of their long-term goals and objectives.
