譯者行為批評視域下《史記》譯者倪豪士身份研究

漢學(xué)家譯者在中國典籍外譯的進(jìn)程中扮演了重要角色,倪豪士(1943~)作為當(dāng)今美國漢學(xué)界的著名學(xué)者之一,主要從事中國古典文學(xué)研究,并翻譯了大量中國經(jīng)典著作,對中國文化對外傳播發(fā)揮了重要作用。其中,倪豪士領(lǐng)銜的《史記》全譯項(xiàng)目尤為學(xué)界所關(guān)注,其譯本因?qū)W術(shù)性較強(qiáng)的特質(zhì)得到了廣泛好評。隨著翻譯研究的文化轉(zhuǎn)向,譯者研究逐漸成為翻譯研究的重點(diǎn)。譯者的身份對其文本選擇、翻譯策略及風(fēng)格具有重要影響,倪豪士既是一名漢學(xué)家譯者,同時(shí)又是一名漢學(xué)教師,其豐富的學(xué)術(shù)研究成果、嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)?shù)慕虒W(xué)活動(dòng)與翻譯行為相輔相成。本文從周領(lǐng)順提出的譯者行為批評視角出發(fā),結(jié)合翻譯內(nèi)與翻譯外兩個(gè)視域,對倪豪士的不同身份進(jìn)行考察,探究其在《史記》英譯中呈現(xiàn)的特征及影響。本研究通過文本細(xì)讀和文本對比分析的方法,以楊憲益、戴乃迭夫婦的《史記》譯本為參照,結(jié)合“求真-務(wù)實(shí)”連續(xù)統(tǒng)評價(jià)模式,對倪豪士不同身份下的行為進(jìn)行考察。依據(jù)譯者行為批評理論,具體分為以下兩個(gè)角度,倪豪士作為語言人,如何使其譯文求真于《史記》原文;倪豪士作為社會人,如何使其譯文務(wù)實(shí)于社會。研究發(fā)現(xiàn),作為語言人,倪豪士的身份可具體為《史記》的讀者與譯者,其教育背景為其深刻解讀原...
