西方修辭教育傳統(tǒng)及其對(duì)我國(guó)英語(yǔ)專業(yè)教育的啟示

【摘要】:西方修辭是一個(gè)有著兩千多年歷史、致力于對(duì)言語(yǔ)所蘊(yùn)含力量的理解、開(kāi)發(fā)和運(yùn)用的研究領(lǐng)域和人文學(xué)科,小到個(gè)人觀點(diǎn)的產(chǎn)生、表達(dá)和交流,大到文化的形成、維系與傳承,幾乎西方所有社會(huì)實(shí)踐活動(dòng)都深受修辭影響。因此,修辭也被視為西方高等教育的核心,在西方人文教育傳統(tǒng)中舉足輕重。了解西方修辭,是我們了解西方與西方教育的重要前提和途徑,對(duì)以培養(yǎng)與西方打交道的人才為己任的我國(guó)英語(yǔ)專業(yè)教育而言,理解、掌握和運(yùn)用西方修辭更是題中應(yīng)有之義。然而,長(zhǎng)期以來(lái)國(guó)內(nèi)學(xué)界對(duì)西方修辭的了解在很大程度上仍局限于英語(yǔ)辭格與文體這一狹小范圍,對(duì)修辭與教育,尤其是與語(yǔ)言教育的密切關(guān)系缺乏充分認(rèn)識(shí)。因此,有必要梳理西方修辭教育發(fā)展的歷史脈絡(luò),理清修辭與英語(yǔ)教育的關(guān)系,為我國(guó)英語(yǔ)教育提供-個(gè)可資參照的對(duì)象。本研究簡(jiǎn)要梳理西方修辭教育的起源與發(fā)展,分析其主要特征與傳統(tǒng)教學(xué)方式,并以此為基礎(chǔ)探討我國(guó)英語(yǔ)專業(yè)教育中修辭意識(shí)的薄弱問(wèn)題及其解決方向。通過(guò)分析西方兩千多年來(lái)各主要?dú)v史階段修辭教育的理論建樹和實(shí)踐特征,揭示修辭在西方人文教育傳統(tǒng)中的核心地位,同時(shí)厘清現(xiàn)代主義時(shí)期以來(lái)西方修辭教育陷入困境的根源所在;通過(guò)評(píng)介西方修辭教育的主要特征與傳統(tǒng)教學(xué)形式,闡明修辭教育與交流能力、想象力、批判性思維和創(chuàng)造能力培養(yǎng)的關(guān)聯(lián),凸顯修辭在西方公民道德教育方面的關(guān)鍵作用;以修辭的視角來(lái)審視我國(guó)外語(yǔ)教育,特別是英語(yǔ)專業(yè)教育的現(xiàn)狀,使我們看到在基本話語(yǔ)理念上與西方的明顯“代差”是導(dǎo)致我國(guó)英語(yǔ)專業(yè)教育長(zhǎng)期“費(fèi)時(shí)低效”、對(duì)外交流屢遭挫折的重要原因。本研究的主體雖是西方修辭教育傳統(tǒng),著眼點(diǎn)卻是我國(guó)英語(yǔ)專業(yè)教育,旨在借助西方修辭的視角與理論資源促進(jìn)我國(guó)英語(yǔ)教育的觀念更新。
[Abstract]:Western rhetoric has a history of more than two thousand years. It is devoted to the understanding, development and application of the power of speech and the humanities, ranging from the generation, expression and exchange of personal views, to the formation, maintenance and inheritance of culture. Almost all social practices in the West are deeply influenced by rhetoric. Therefore, rhetoric is also regarded as the core of western higher education and plays an important role in the western humanistic education tradition. Understanding western rhetoric is an important prerequisite and way for us to understand the west and western education. For the English professional education in our country, it is necessary to understand, master and use western rhetoric in order to cultivate the talents who deal with the west. However, for a long time, the understanding of Western rhetoric in domestic academic circles is still limited to the narrow scope of English rhetoric and style to a great extent, and lacks a full understanding of the close relationship between rhetoric and education, especially between rhetoric and language education. Therefore, it is necessary to sort out the historical context of the development of rhetoric education in the West, to clarify the relationship between rhetoric and English education, and to provide a reference for English education in China. This study briefly combs the origin and development of rhetoric education in the West, analyzes its main characteristics and traditional teaching methods, and explores the weakness of rhetorical awareness in English major education in China and its solutions. By analyzing the theoretical achievements and practical characteristics of rhetoric education in various historical stages of the West in the past two thousand years, this paper reveals the core position of rhetoric in the western humanistic education tradition. At the same time, it clarifies the root of the predicament of the western rhetoric education since the modernism period, and clarifies the rhetoric education and communication ability, imagination through the review of the main characteristics and traditional teaching forms of the western rhetoric education. The relationship between critical thinking and creative ability training highlights the key role of rhetoric in the moral education of western citizens, and examines the present situation of foreign language education, especially English major education, in China from the perspective of rhetoric. So we can see that the obvious "generation difference" between the basic discourse concept and the West is an important reason for the long-term "time-consuming and inefficient" English major education in China and the repeated setbacks in foreign communication. Although the main body of this study is the western rhetorical education tradition, it focuses on the English professional education in China. It aims to promote the renewal of the concept of English education in China with the help of the western rhetoric perspective and theoretical resources.
