孟定洞景佛寺位于耿馬傣族佤族自治縣國家級口岸-孟定鎮(zhèn)的洞景寨，是國家級文物保護單位。其建筑結(jié)構(gòu)及陳設(shè)屬南傳上座部佛教山林派。大殿內(nèi)有釋迦牟尼金色大佛一尊及彌勒睡佛22尊，神彩各異。因埋藏釋迦牟尼“舍利子”而聞名東南亞。據(jù)洞景佛寺史載，釋迦牟尼圓寂后，其尸焚而得晶骨，即“舍利子”晶骨分為八份傳遍各地，具有超乘公德的佛力，即以普渡眾生。釋迦牟尼“舍利子”一部份傳入孟定并埋藏于洞景佛寺內(nèi)。1994年在重修佛塔時挖掘出佛像69尊及珠寶、銅像、小塔等物品，同時出土的兩片銅刻銘文中記載了該寺藏有圣物“舍利子”的事實，其中掘出一節(jié)長約3厘米的呈晶體橢圓形的佛骨（釋迦牟尼“舍利子”）�！吧崂印钡陌l(fā)現(xiàn)給洞景佛寺蒙上了神秘的色彩，以致影響到整個東南亞，洞景佛寺也因此形成了一個佛祖救世濟世，普渡眾生的佛教圣地。
