【摘要】：赫士是1882年來華的美國傳教士,1944年在濰縣日本集中營去世。在華期間,赫士翻譯和編寫了大量科學(xué)和宗教書籍,為西方科學(xué)在中國的傳播作出巨大貢獻。他在登州文會館教授天文學(xué)、地質(zhì)學(xué)、物理學(xué)、理財學(xué)和算學(xué)達18年之久,培養(yǎng)了中國早期的教育師資力量。1895年赫士接任登州文會館監(jiān)督,創(chuàng)辦山東第一份中文報紙——《山東時報》,1901年創(chuàng)辦中國第一家省級大學(xué)堂——山東大學(xué)堂,1919年創(chuàng)建華北地區(qū)最具影響力的神學(xué)院——華北神學(xué)院。他把一生都獻給了中國的科學(xué)和信仰事業(yè)。
[Abstract]:Hirsch, an American missionary who came to China in 1882, died in a Japanese concentration camp in Weixian in 1944. During his stay in China, Hirsch translated and authored a large number of scientific and religious books, which contributed greatly to the spread of Western science in China. He taught astronomy, geology, physics, finance and mathematics at the Dengzhou Cultural Guild for 18 years, and trained early Chinese teachers of education. In 1895, Hersh succeeded him in supervising the Dengzhou Cultural Guild. The first Chinese newspaper in Shandong, the Shandong Times, was founded in 1901, the first provincial university in China-Shandong University in 1919, and the most influential seminary in North China in 1919. He devoted his life to the cause of science and faith in China.
