傳教士與庚子賠款——以美國北長老會(huì)為例

【摘要】:教會(huì)賠款是庚子賠款的重要組成部分。作為近代來華的特殊外國人群體,傳教士對(duì)教案賠款有自己的不同看法,本文以美國北長老會(huì)為例,探討海外宣教部、差會(huì)和傳教士對(duì)于賠款的態(tài)度及采取的具體政策。就具體政策而言,美國北長老會(huì)采取了適度減免賠款的原則,這樣的賠償政策體現(xiàn)了傳教士在道德和利益之間的選擇,體現(xiàn)了基督教會(huì)與其他西方機(jī)構(gòu)的區(qū)別。但無論傳教士及差會(huì)采取何種措施,其最終措施都是為了傳播基督教,實(shí)現(xiàn)中華歸主。
[Abstract]:The church indemnity is an important part of the Boxer indemnity. As a special group of foreigners coming to China in modern times, missionaries have different views on the compensation of teaching cases. This paper takes the Northern Presbyterian Church of the United States as an example to discuss the attitude and specific policies adopted by overseas propaganda departments, missionary societies and missionaries on reparations. In terms of specific policies, the Northern Presbyterian Church of America adopted the principle of moderate relief of reparations, which reflected the choice between morality and interest of missionaries, and the difference between Christian Church and other Western institutions. However, no matter what the missionaries and missionary will do, the ultimate measure is to spread Christianity and achieve Chinese ownership.
