清末民初中國(guó)人口“四萬(wàn)萬(wàn)”說之考察:以孫中山為中心

【摘要】：清末民初中國(guó)人口有多少?通行的說法是"四萬(wàn)萬(wàn)"。孫中山亦津津樂道。不過,在孫中山那里內(nèi)涵有三:"四萬(wàn)萬(wàn)"只是一個(gè)概數(shù);"四萬(wàn)萬(wàn)"是指不確定多數(shù)的人民;"四萬(wàn)萬(wàn)"并不包括中國(guó)領(lǐng)土上的所有人,主要指漢族人民。這個(gè)數(shù)據(jù),是清朝乾隆在位時(shí)期各國(guó)科學(xué)家與傳教士或宗教家共同調(diào)查的結(jié)果。它未必真實(shí)反映了清末民初人口的實(shí)際數(shù)量。孫中山念念不忘中國(guó)人口"四萬(wàn)萬(wàn)"之說,流露了他重視人口在民族國(guó)家中的作用,關(guān)注社會(huì)大多數(shù)人的命運(yùn),希望喚醒他們起來革命的傾向。留給后人的深刻啟示則是:人民革命將是改變中華民族命運(yùn)的必由之路。
[Abstract]:What is the population of China in the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China? The prevailing saying is "400 million". Sun Yat-sen also relented. However, there are three connotations in Sun Yat-sen: "400 million" is only an estimate; "400 million" refers to the uncertain majority of the people; and "400 million" does not include all the people on Chinese territory, mainly the Han people. This data is the result of a joint survey of scientists, missionaries or religious scientists from all over the world during the reign of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. It may not really reflect the actual number of people in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Sun Yat-sen never forgot the theory of "400 million" of Chinese population, revealing his tendency to attach importance to the role of population in the nation-state, pay attention to the fate of the majority of people in society, and hope to awaken them to revolution. The profound enlightenment left to future generations is that the people's revolution will be the only way to change the fate of the Chinese nation.
