【摘要】：This thesis mainly puts its emphasis on introducing the US-allied foreign policy of the late Qing Government proceeding from the following aspects: First, it proceeds from probing into the main reasons of this foreign policy undertaken by the late Qing Government involving four facets. The first facet is the conflict and friction between China and the Western countries prior to the Opium War which psychologically hinder their diplomatic cooperation and alliance. The second one attributes to the initial good image of the US in the minds of most Chinese after hinese Queen oyaged to China in 1784. The above-mentioned two points are the underlying foundations of the US-allied foreign policy of the late Qing Government. The third one is in part the result of wiser tactics adopted by the US government in China compared with other western capitalist countries, comprising no direct use of force against China, no claim for territory and no endangering territorial and administrative entity of the Qing Government, which makes the late Qing Government regard the .US Government as a reliable friend. The last one is the result of the failure of the Qing Government Japan-allied and Russia-allied foreign policy. Second, it expounds the implementation of the US-allied foreign policy of the late Qing Government consisting of three aspects. The first aspect briefly introduces the US-allied foreign policy thinking of Lin Zexu, a major official of the late Qing Government. The second one introduces some important US-allied measures undertaken by the late Qing Government in its initial stage including dispatching young children to the United States to study and sending Burlingame mission to western countries for diplomatic negotiation. The third one will put its emphasis on the US-allied foreign policy thinking of Li Hongzhang, in charge of foreign affairs of the late Q ing Government, and its implementation in some concrete foreign disputes. Last but not the least, it gives some space and lines to the introspection of the US-allied foreign policy of the late Qing Government and draws some lessons from it.
