【摘要】:正13世紀(jì)末,眼鏡這種新發(fā)明像野火燎原一般在意大利流行起來(lái),過(guò)了差不多400年,牛頓用棱鏡捕捉到太陽(yáng)光的光譜;自此,透鏡、棱鏡及其物理變體徹底改變了人們看世界的方式,漸而建立起從夸克到觀測(cè)宇宙的科學(xué)的自然圖景。到20世紀(jì)末,這一圖景一度似乎發(fā)展到堪稱完美的境界,甚至有人提出了"科學(xué)終結(jié)"的看法。但恰從那時(shí)起,信息技術(shù)的發(fā)展使得科學(xué)研究與人類活動(dòng)生產(chǎn)的數(shù)據(jù)呈指數(shù)級(jí)增長(zhǎng),當(dāng)前每個(gè)人的數(shù)據(jù)足跡——每年產(chǎn)生的數(shù)據(jù)量達(dá)到差不多1個(gè)太字節(jié)(8萬(wàn)億比
[Abstract]:In late 13th century, the invention of spectacles became popular in Italy like a wild fire. Nearly 400 years later, Newton used a prism to capture the spectrum of the sun's light; since then, the lens, The prism and its physical variations revolutionized the way people looked at the world and gradually created a natural picture of science from quarks to observation of the universe, which by the end of 20th century seemed to have developed to a perfect state. The idea of "the end of science" has even been put forward. But since then, advances in information technology have led to exponential growth in data on scientific research and the production of human activities. The current data footprint per person-- the amount of data generated per year amounts to about 8 trillion terabytes per year.
